Title: an idea to stretch your imitrex
Post by duerrs on Jul 16th, 2005, 3:22pm
I saw someone had an idea to make there imitrex go a little further and i had an idea of my own.  I'm sure many of you have a bunch of the stat dose pens, i know i have like 11 of them.  Rather than do the q-tip idea  to give yourself a thrid of a dose, why not just cut the plunger down on the injector a little bit so that you only get half or a 3rd of a dose, when you want to use the rest, just plug in an injector that is not cut down and your good to go.  Has anyone else tried this or is there something i'm missing????

This has been mentioned before but I think it's easier said than done.

I must admit I'm having trouble getting smaller doses so my GP gave me some ordinary syringes and needles. I just gently push the needle into the liquid and draw up half the amount and use the injector for the rest in the next dose. Any less than half doesn't work for me.

that would work too but when I get hit late at nite the last thing i want to do is have to think about what i'm doing, it would be so nice to just hit the button like usual.  The only thing i'm worried about is having to reuse the syringe, but the q-tip idea doesn't mention that either.  i'm going to do a little more research, i'll let you all know what i find in case anyone is interested.

Went to try it your way with the cut down needle but the bloody thing has stopped working. I'll have to get a new pack. As for re using it, I suggest you use the sterile wipe on it first. Should be quite safe as you are not needle "sharing" ;;D
Cheers,
Jacqs
