Title: Clusterbuster treatment question
Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on Jun 19th, 2005, 1:25pm
I am beginning a new cycle and have been pretty mild for about 2 weeks.  I have been getting between 1 and 3 CHs a day and they go away quickly with O2.
I did the clusterbuster treatment on friday night, and it was the worst CH i have had in this new cycle.  I huffed the O2 for quite a while and it wasnt helping, so I had to shoot some trex early saturday morning in the wee hours.
Has anyone experienced getting hit the same day of drinking the tea?  I also got hit saturday night, but it went away with the O2.

Any other advice to try to stop this cycle before it really gets going?  I cant take verapimil cause i take propranolol.  I always take melatonin and benadryl before bed.  Should i drink more tea in a week?
Thanks n PF wishes
BMonee

Yes, many people experience some hits on the downside of the dose.

Just to confirm. You've been using, and continue to use, Imitrex, Inderal and melatonin? Anything else? Or had you been off all these before the tea?

If you're using these, it sounds more like the Pahlowbusters treatment than the Clusterbusters treatment.  ;;D
(Just kiddin BP)

If the hits continue to build, then you should probably do another dose in a week, but should do your best to stay away from the trex (especially) and the rest. Some anecdotal evidence points to melatonin as a possible inhibitor.

Best of luck,
Bobw

I havent used trex in about 4 months til this weekend.
I dont take inderal, but i do take propanolol to combat hyperthyroid symptoms daily 80mg.
I take 6 or 7.5mg of melatonin every night with a little benadryl.  This combo, by far, has been the most effective in averting a cluster.
I am certain i had no triptans in my system at all when i drank that tea.  and i did get hit on the downside of that little happy time.

Yep. Got hit or was in the middle of hit's during my first 2 dosing's, then the hits and shadows left and have not returned for 12 weeks with maintenance dosing every 2 weeks. Best wishes, Joe
