Title: Cycle Break experience to share-Chiropractic Post by jefferator on May 18th, 2005, 4:41pm Hiya Friends, Again, I'm new to the board and have been a 20 year sufferer. Just started a cycle a couple weeks ago after close to two years PF. Was hoping I was one of the lucky ones with full remission...not so. ANyway, I remember years ago I had the worst cycle in my CH life. It was so viscous, for 4 months. Kip 10's nightly every other hour and a dull to pounding buzz all day (what most consider the worst headache they have ever had was actually non-nocturnal relief!!! you guys know what I mean). Anyway, I had a huge H Tank in my house I was burning thru it so fast and the O2 stopped working. It was the first time my then fiancee now wife saw this in action. Poor thing, scared the hell out of her. Incredibly scary for me too having no effective abortive agent....anyway, my then office manager said she had a friend who had terrible headaches and went to this chiropractor and she gave me her name. I was at wits end, so I tried it. Now I must say, Im not sure if I was at the end of the cycle or it was my saviour, but this doctor realigned me, and then set me on a table and used an ultrasonic device (looked like a hammer) all over my back and neck and temple. I get them in my left temple every time. When I am getting a hit, I can follow the inflamed throbbing from my temple, behind my ear and down my neck and into my back. Long story long (sorry), my cycle broke right after the visit. I have never had to do it again before or since, but wanted to share that with you all. Hope it helps. I have lived alone with these freagin things for so long, I guess I am just ecstatic to interact with those who understand. Jeff |

Title: Re: Cycle Break experience to share-Chiropractic Post by Marta on May 18th, 2005, 5:22pm Hya Jeff, Glad to hear that the chiro helped you. I 'think' that I'm coming to the end of this particular episode because I seem to be followed by my shadow most of the time but relatively pain free. The one thing that worried me is that my neck is getting crunchier (if you know what I mean) by the day. This normally occurs before an episode. I went to an osteopath once before during cluster time but it didn't help. Do you reckon a chiropractor might be more succesful? Thanks and keep PF Marta |

Title: Re: Cycle Break experience to share-Chiropractic Post by jefferator on May 18th, 2005, 7:09pm Firstly, in reply to Marta....I'm not sure dear, but based upon my circumstance, I would say the chiropractor. Not just the realignment but the penetrating ultra sound hammer. Could have been a fluke...could have broken without it, but I would like to believe that it worked. Now to Johnny, I just might. I recently moved from FLA to Texas and dont have a chiro here. Also, I just re-entered a cycle and O2 has been very effective to abort. I guess the truth is, that last time I was well in the cycle and that superstitious part of me is fearful of going and it not working early in the cycle and losing that glimmer of hope of a cycle breaker. Nonsense isnt it.....If it gets worse Im going to try visiting a chiropractor who has the ultrasonic treatment. |

I've got as many as 3 days in a row PF when going. Im no doc but it seems to me it has to be a nerve thing how can biological clocks and seretonin uptakes or what ever they say causes clusters , only hit one side of your head? also I just started massage, which didnt get a ha that night either? well good luck to ya |

Title: Re: Cycle Break experience to share-Chiropractic Post by kcopelin on May 25th, 2005, 8:49pm Very glad its working for you! My favorite chiro story- chiro first adjusted my teeth ::) then he explained that my clusterheadaches were caused by past life trauma. Seems I was defending my plantation during the civil war and got smashed across the right side of my face by a rifle butt swung by a damned yankee ;;D ::) :o the most bizaare combination of new age mysticism and old fashioned southern bs i have ever encountered. PFDAN y'all Kathy |

Title: Re: Cycle Break experience to share-Chiropractic Post by zebb37 on May 26th, 2005, 10:36am over the years i have had acupuncture, chiropractic treatment, dental treatment to name but a few. My episode would/does end and i think great i now know what to do next year. As soon as the e[pisode starts, off i dutifully & optimistically go only for there to be no positive response to treatment. the long and short of it is i don't know what interupts my cycle but it will never be the same thing |
