Hello everyone I am new to this board but not new to this affliction. I have suffered with this since 8 years and like many of you tried many different drugs. I am now on Topiramate which seems ok for me but the side effects are awful especially the weight loss!!! Anyone else having this problem???? or is on Topiramate, I am also having lots of other awful side effects...

I suffer with Episodic Cluster headaches, Spring and Summer are my cycle and Chronic Migraine all year around (so Im really never headache free I have had migraine since 11 years old). I also have chronic daily headache. I think I may be in some kind of remission from the Cluster because they didnt show up since I've been on this drug (unless Topiramate is working????) well we will find out this year wont we??? It hasnt shown up this Spring either...

Is it possible to have a 'remission' period or can you 'heal' from Clusters???

Some people might 'heal' from clusters but remission is a better term. Once you have clusters, there is always a good possibility that they will return. Since there is no test to determine if someone has healed or is just in remission, the question can be asked, but not answered.

I am new to this site also. I tried Topomax about a year ago and was on it for many months. I thought it was helping because, like you I didn't have the cluster headaches, I was just having some chronic headaches. But like clockwork they came back. October is when they started and it has been hell ever since. I didn't have the weight loss with the medicine because I was also on Lexapro and it made me gain some weight. When the clusters came back we upped the dose and I had a lot of memory loss. I couldn't remember what I ate for dinner, or where I put my keys. Stuff like that. I have tried many things since October. Best of luck!

I was on Topomax (stupidmax) for about five months. It didn't help my CH and the side effects were awful. I tried different dosages and taking it at different times of the day etc... It made me very forgetful, ineffectual and sick. I didn't have the weight loss effect however I have heard from many people that they have. PF days for you!
