Title: Kudzu when not in cycle? Post by PatFan on May 2nd, 2005, 3:35pm Hello everyone, I have my headaches under control with Verapamil 480/day. There are only 1-2 times a year where i need to ramp up to this dose. The rest of the year I take no meds. I would like to try the Kudzu thing as it seems more natural, but was wondering if I should try getting on it when I'm not in cycle (which I am not). My worry would be that I would screw up my cycle somehow and actually cause headaches / cycles. And if it Kudzu didn't work, would it somehow change the effectiveness of verapamil.....Don't want to screw up a good thing. Are the episodics having success with Kudzu taking year around or only when in cycle? Any thoughts would be appreciated |

Title: Re: Kudzu when not in cycle? Post by seasonalboomer on May 2nd, 2005, 4:24pm I was one who had success with the Kudzu and am an "episodic". As it appears the only people who have tried Kudzu have used it to end a cycle or get relief from chronic CH we don't really have any info that it would be a successful preventative. My personal opinion would be that if I don't think taking something has a specific purpose, then I won't take anything. Then keep the Kudzu on hand for when I get beasty tickles in the Fall. |

Title: Re: Kudzu when not in cycle? Post by floridian on May 3rd, 2005, 10:19pm Depends on your attitude towards risk. I am on the more catious side and would not take something unless it is well understood, and/or there is a clear benefit. I do take melatonin through the year, as I understand the (known) risks, and clusterheads have low melatonin production year round, even episodics who are not in cycle. http://www.med-owl.com/clusterheadaches/tiki-index.php?page=Melatonin http://www.med-owl.com/clusterheadaches/tiki-index.php?page=Kudzu (a few recent updates to the kudzu page). |
