Title: Coffee? Post by Shagnasty on May 1st, 2005, 7:10pm Hi, I'm new to this, but has anyone tried coffee? Strong black coffee is the the only thing that works for me. Coffee works,(about 15-20 min) and lasts longer than O2, but O2 is faster, so I use coffee (about 1/2-1 cup, hot or cold) then the O2. Seems to limit the duration to 10-15 min.and the frequency to 1-2 per night. Thanks Shagnasty |

Title: Re: Coffee? Post by taraann on May 1st, 2005, 11:55pm I drink so much coffee that I don't even get a boost from it anymore. But you are not the only one that uses coffee as a CH aid. Also my grandpa.....way back when.... used to use what my grandma calls kettle coffee. You make VERY strong coffee in a coffee can. Just piping hot water poured over tons of grounds, then drank it. I tried it once, couldn't barely get it down, and it didn't help anyways. |

Title: Re: Coffee? Post by Judge_Smails on May 2nd, 2005, 3:44pm I've been on the caffine kick when my cycle comes around for a few years now (soda for me, no coffee). However, now that my cycle is over I noticed that I am getting very dull CH like headaches (especially when I first wake up). I think this is due to the caffine addiction. I'm trying to ween myself off of the caffine - but what a kick in the rear it is to be over your CH and then still get mild headaches. |

eerrrrm, I'm confused. 02 aborts attacks in 10-15 minutes anyway, what difference does the coffee make? Wendy |

Title: Re: Coffee? Post by Shagnasty on May 2nd, 2005, 9:53pm Sorry, Guess I wasn't clear. The effects of the coffee seem to last longer. With just the coffee, I only get 1 or 2 Ch a night, but it takes a little longer to take effect. The O2 with out the coffee is much faster, but the CH come back sooner and more often. So the combination of both seems to work the best for me. Shagnasty |

Title: Got Coffee? Post by Mr. Happy on May 3rd, 2005, 12:58am [CH Aside] Dark Roast Coffee My kid came back from a Spanish class cultural immersion one week trip to Costa Rica. They went to a coffee ranch. She came home with several pounds of CR coffee beans. Not only is this nectar, but it's rocket fuel to the max. Interesting note of her education was that Dark Roast coffee is made with dried cows blood. It retains color and longevity rather well, and still fits under the All Natural Ingredients blanket. Thought this was worth passing on for all the self righteous PITA Vegans you might know. Laff internally, knowing that the colon is rotting and poisoning their systems from within, unknowingly. Let's brew another pot. I thought it was a wry twist. Cow's blood. Heh. One lump or two. RJ [/CH Aside] |

Title: Re: Coffee? Post by sandie99 on May 4th, 2005, 8:24am It's great that you've found something which works for you... :) I used to drink coca cola diet with lemon to help me deal with the side effects I got from my painkillers! It helped with that...or at least it made me feel better! ;;D Best wishes, Sandie |

Title: Re: Coffee? Post by nani on May 11th, 2005, 10:35am I used to sell gourmet coffees, and my understanding was that dark roasts are left in the roaster longer. Cow blood would have an effect on the flavor...I think. Anyway, for me, coffee knocks out stubborn shadows but does nothing for a hit. |

Title: Re: Coffee? Post by thebbz on May 13th, 2005, 7:44pm Coffee anyone? The active ingredient caffiene is also in Cafergot, sometimes effective. Caffiene is a double edged sword. I was up to about a case and a half of mountian dew a day delaying the beast and it began to trigger as well as the rebound effect. Works in a pinch. Coke and a aspirin? Coffee and a smoke ? Whatever works. Hey but thats just me. BB |

Title: Re: Coffee? Post by Dark_Funeral on May 23rd, 2005, 11:09am Yes as Thebbz said, rebound, it can be a killer. But then in saying that I use it still sometimes!!!! ;) Extremely strong and about 8-10 cups per day |

Title: Re: Coffee? Post by maffumatt on May 23rd, 2005, 10:23pm I drink 3 12 cup pots a day, sometimes more, hell I should never get hit lol. |

Title: Re: Coffee? Post by kcopelin on May 23rd, 2005, 11:34pm Just read some interesting info on coffee-was on one of the headache links on ch.com. basically caffeine ramps up the action of analgesics, is vaso-active (constrictor) and they seems to think the addiction/rebound really isn't a problem. I slam a cup of the strongest coffee I can make at home (we're talkin serious stuff here) and 4 aspirins for shadows-it helps sometimes. Left the cup sitting on the counter one time and my husband took a sip ;;Dhe has never done that again ::) Also, BO (before oxygen) I would drink coffee all night to keep from sleeping-so the beast couldn't get me. Title: Re: Coffee? Post by Rickf on May 29th, 2005, 8:42am Never thought of coffee as a way to help. I drink a lot of water right now and that seems to be helping with this episode (but then again, I may just be winding down). We ran out of bottled water the other night and I drank a few glasses of iced tea. I had a miserable night. Between having to pee and getting ice packs (actually packages of frozen corn) and battling the beast I got very little sleep. I will admit though that the shadow I woke up with this morning is gone now that I've had a cup of coffee. I may try the coffee at night, but I'll admit it worries me. |
