Title: has any one tried 5-htp Post by ksr on Apr 29th, 2005, 9:40am Hello, I am new to this forum. I have read in a news paper that a herbal extract from african seed " griffonia" helps relieve mental depression and headaches. This extract has 5-hydroxy tryptophan which improves serotonin secretion in our brain. Has any one tried this medicine? I have not tried this Yet? I have been suffering from chronic headaches for the last 4 month They are not so severe. I want to avoid medicines with serious side effects. So i want to try this new medicine. Thanks |

Title: Re: has any one tried 5-htp Post by vig on Apr 29th, 2005, 9:41am There's a few that have tried it... You can look into Melatonin too, and if you like herbal seed extracts, try Morning Glory seeds or Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds... These two are generating some good results, but the numbers are small ;;D |

Title: Re: has any one tried 5-htp Post by Bob P on Apr 29th, 2005, 9:43am Don't waste your money. The body turns 5-HTP into 5-HT (serotonin). The body only turns the amount of 5-HTP into 5-HT that it needs. Loading up on 5-HTP isn't going to increase your levels of 5-HT. BTW - I also took it, like Patti below, but out of cycle. Just wanted to see if it had any side effects. I didn't get much from it. Didn't lose weight, didn't sleep better. |

Title: Re: has any one tried 5-htp Post by pattik on Apr 29th, 2005, 10:03am I have to agree with Bob. I gave it a serious try for two cycles with no noticable results. I think you might want to research the kudzu threads here if you are thinking about a non-prescription alternative. Pat |
