I’m new to this site, but not new to CHs. I’ve had them now for about 8 years, and they seem to appear around December to May. I haven’t tried most of the specific medications, but I have tried many home remedies. The best abortive remedy that works for me may seem a little graphic; caution. I don’t know if any others have noted this type of method on the message board, but an intense sexual orgasm after sufficient arousal seems to knock my CH out every time ::). Now for me this only works when (1), I am sufficiently aroused (quick sexual encounters won’t work), and (2) I can focus on a present sexual experience (major distractions seem to lesson the effectiveness). Now of course, this may seem a little eccentric and maybe even downright gross or “pervertish” to some, but I have to be honest, it works for me. Now I am a guy, and when I’m in CH pain, intense pleasure isn’t something that I’m going to lamenting over. I would suggest you get a supportive wife/husband (or a magazine; whatever floats your boat) and see if things work for you. However, sexual experiences don’t seem have prophylactic features, only abortive ones.

This has been mentioned a few times in the past.

Glad it works for you, but, ain't nobody going to touch me in any way, shape or form during a cluster attack. Or they'll find out what "getting off" really means.

Maybe you're not doing it enough.
It could be like some medications. You have to take them for a while before they start to work.

Welcome to the family! Sorry you have to be here, though.

It is great that you have found something that works for you! That is fantastic! I am SO happy for you! We love to hear when someone finds something that works for them.

BUT .. .. .. .. That being said, let me say this:

One thing we have learned, in comparing stories and experiences, is that what works for one, does not mean it will work for everyone. As a matter of fact, it sometimes has the reverse effect on another clusterhead. For instance, I happen to have, what I consider, to be the WORST trigger: an orgasm!!! YUP! Blow my load, and within 10 minutes, I got a humdinger! I keep testing it to see if it has changed, but NOT YET, damnit! Surprising what we put up with just to get our rocks off!! Haha!!!

If you look at the bottom of BobG's window, you notice that stress helps him to stave off hits, yet for others, stress is a trigger!! The beast is one tricky bastard!!!

Keep reading and you will constantly see the different effects things have on us. No wonder there is not a cure yet!

Well I am sure that is not it (Seminal Retention Headache), because before I have even ever ejaculated the CHs were present. There are times when I do not have coitus for months, and do have CHs, and there are times when I do have plenty of coitus, and no CH for months. Therefore, I am pretty sure it isn't related to that. But I’d be glad to hear more about Seminal Retention Headaches, or is that a joke?

Yeah, that's all fine and dandy, but honestly, when I get hit the way I do, I can't imagine even being able to either have sex or masturbate!
I can't stand in one place for more than a second...

If you can get hard and get off with a CH rolling down the tracks you are either superman or you dont have CH, I think the latter...but thats JMHO ;;D

You say that you have not tried "most of the specific meds"

Have you even been diagnosed with CH?

Hey legazy, happy it can work for you. I'd read about that last year I think, and since I've always been trying just about every thing ,I figured this couldn't hurt... Well turned out, when tried it during a hit, that it accentuated the pain for me, the blood rush from being aroused(wich was hard to acheive), just fed the beast even more...!... never again for me...

hi guys,

I've been quite about this whole issue due to the fact that others might find it odd or perverse, however, I myself have experienced that having a sexual orgasm aleviates the immediate affect of a CH attack.

Orgasm increases intracranial pressure (ICP). It seems like vigorous exercise, especially running, also increases ICP. There was also a guy that posted saying standing on his head increased his ICP and aborted a headache.

Seems like an increase in ICP while not having an attack can be a trigger (moderate exercise triggers for some, sex for others).
But DURING an attack, sharp increases in ICP (vigorous exercise, intense orgasm) can abort.
However, I think (I might have it backwards), that oxygen decreases ICP. Perhaps it's not the sharp increase in ICP that aborts it, but the drop in pressure after the sharp increase? That would explain the abort about 10 minutes after orgasm.

Not a medical expert by any means, but that's my theory.
