Title: Re: Nasas Spray seems to help alot Post by JoeS on Jan 23rd, 2005, 11:35am Thanks for the info. Do you need to spray it in the nostril on the same side as your headache, or does it not matter? Just wondering out loud: Nasarel is a corticosteroid (like prednisone, but for nasal use obviously). Maybe it works for CH the same way that prednisone does. Thoughts anyone? |

Title: Re: Nasas Spray seems to help alot Post by Redd715 on Jan 23rd, 2005, 12:12pm Thoughts? Sure...I was also scripted a steriodal nasal spray from my specialist. Nasacort (triamcinolone acetonide). I've been useing your OTC Afrin to attempt to keep the left nostril clear and open for years prior to Dx thinking that if it was open 24/7/365 that it would prevent the attacks... Not sure of if the specialist scripted the steriod for the CH or for trying to get me off the afrin, but it didn't work for either problem. my [smiley=twocents.gif] |

Title: Re: Nasas Spray seems to help alot Post by sandie99 on Jan 23rd, 2005, 1:48pm Wow. That's great news for you! :) I tried nasal spray in fall 2003 and it gave me just loads of side effects without aborting CH pain. I don't recall what my nasal spray was but it wasn't Nasarel, that one I know for sure. I hope it keeps on working for you! And thanks for sharing your success with it. PFdays, Sandie |

Title: Re: Nasas Spray seems to help alot Post by Margi on Jan 24th, 2005, 2:20pm be real careful with the nasal sprays - the OTC kind anyway. No experience here with prescription stuff (other than Imitrex which is a whole 'nuther animal.) Mike, my hubby, used Dristan nasal spray for years and years. Until it dawned on us that it, the Dristan, was making him need more and more of it. It causes rebound congestion so please do be careful with it. It's hard stuff to get away from because it makes you need it more and more!! He's free of it now and will never use it again. Interesting too, is that we had to do an insurance paramedical test and he tested positive for a controlled substance because of the Dristan (I forget for which one though, now - this was years ago). I told our insurer that he used Dristan and they said that was the cause of the positive test. |
