Title: Message moved

I hope no-one minds, but I have moved this message from the 2003 meds archives as I think it was placed there by mistake and may not be seen.

I hope I got that right, Jim.

Hi Guys

The drug that was offered to me in suppository (which i refused due to been told was too slow) has been given to me in tablet form,

It is Cafergot Tablets

Each tablet contains 1mg of ergotamine tartare PhEur and 100mg of caffeine PhEur.

The instructions were to take one or two at onset with a max of 4 in 24 hours or 8 in any one week.

The devil returned last night and i tried these tablets. I am going back to the doctors today to give them back to her in suppository form!!!

They made the devil kick around for nearly six hours.

I was given Imigran nasal spray in case of severe pain (doctors are great eh!) i used both of these no no effect.

I am going to request my Imigran injections back again and enquire about 02.

Enough is Enough

Jim

I've used cafergot for about 25 years.  Had it in tablets, inhalers and sublingual.  It is slow but it does work.  It is also not as specific in which vessels it constricts as the triptans are so it is more likely to cause problems.

I've always ignored the dosing max.  10 in one week doesn't get it when you get hit 3 times a day!  I've taken as many as 25 in one week with the only side effect being cold fingers and toes from lack of blood flow.  The doctors freak out when you tell them this though.

When I feel a hit coming, I drop a tab of cafergot and hit the O2.  O2 holds the attack down until the cafergot kicks in and the cafergot keeps the attack from coming back.
