Title: Took LSD 2 months ago, now have CH for a month Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on Jan 14th, 2005, 2:10pm I have read about taking LSD or shrooms 2 times per year will make CH cycle not come back. However, only 2 months ago I took LSD for fun, and have been suffering terribly for 1 month. Did I not take enough LSD? Does it need to be liquid A or blotter? Is there something I am supposed to do while tripping that will make it more effective? Some help would be appreciated. I plan on taking shroom tea in the next week or 2, any advice to help? Thanks and PF wishes BMonee |

Title: Re: Took LSD 2 months ago, now have CH for a month Post by JJA on Jan 14th, 2005, 2:47pm Many people need multiple doses (especially chronic sufferers). Two doses per year preventing CH is an ideal situation. on 01/14/05 at 14:10:04, BMoneeTheMoneeMan wrote:
There is nothing special that needs to be done during the trip, in fact you don't even have to take enough to trip. Quote:
I assume that if you took a recreational dose, your dose size was not too small. Quote:
I am guessing you have already seen http://www.clusterbusters.com Follow their advice. Detox off any meds you are on if possible. Some drugs, like Immitrex (triptans) and prednisone are thought to make this approach less likely to work. Read up and ask questions. Good luck Jesse |

" Yes, laugh and smile a lot. [smiley=laugh.gif] but seriously, that MIGHT mean you got a free month from it, doesn't it? twice a year is very optimistic... Most people take it (psilocybin) more frequently. Consider yourself a beta tester (most testers are using psilocybin, not LSD) and keep the program going and update us on your progress. ;;D |

Title: Re: Took LSD 2 months ago, now have CH for a month Post by miapet on Jan 14th, 2005, 3:30pm We second the idea of reading www.clusterbusters.com you don't need a recreational dose, but if that's your choice .. . and yes, you're a beta tester *L* there isn't as much statistical data on your method . .but you can add to the data there currently is! It can take multiple doses to break a cycle ... and everyone needs to do their paintenance dose at different intervals . . .currently, D doses every 2 to 3 months. There are some who dose monthly, and some who dose yearly .. .it depends on the person. *positive light and energy* miapet |

Title: Re: Took LSD 2 months ago, now have CH for a month Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on Jan 14th, 2005, 3:49pm I'm sorry, I guess I don't know enough about the medical terminology to know what the hell you are talking about. Jesse, My doc prescribed verapimil for me to take daily. (180mg) SHould I not take that for a few days before drinking shroom tea?? Should I not take Trex for a day or 2 before drinking tea? O2 is ok...right? VIG and Miapet, what the hell is psilocybin and how do you pronounce it? I thought that LSD was being tested like shrooms and there was very close similarities. Is that not correct? And Vig, you may be correct cause I didnt have any headaches for a month and it may have correlated with the LSD. I remarked to my wife that I hadnt had any headaches for a month and then, of course, (murphy's law) I started a new cycle the next day. I really appreciate your help Thanks and PF wishes Brian |

Title: Re: Took LSD 2 months ago, now have CH for a month Post by JJA on Jan 14th, 2005, 4:19pm Well, I would never go as far as saying you should stop what a doctor prescribed. Verapamil may interfere with the treatment (I'm not sure) so for best chances of success you would be verapamil free (that's up to you and your doctor). Immitrex is definitely thought to interfere with the treatment and the people over at http://www.clusterbusters.com recommend you "detox." I think you should try to avoid it for at least 2 weeks before dosing with shrooms for the best results. You could try the "sip method" (taking small, subthreshold doses of shrooms) to abort headaches for those 2 weeks. Oxygen is OK too. Really though, I recommend that you spend a lot of time at http://www.clusterbusters.com and learn all about this treatment. BTW psilocybin (pronounced sil-o-si-bin) is the active drug in shrooms (it is similar to LSD) Jesse |

Title: Re: Took LSD 2 months ago, now have CH for a month Post by miapet on Jan 15th, 2005, 8:06am REALLY REALLY REALLY read the buster site, it answers sooooooooo many questions! There is some data available on the use of LSD, but not nearly as much as there is on shrooms. As for detoxing off the drugs, the triptan family interferes with the alternative treatments, and a 5 day detox is a general rule of thumb on that one. Prednisone is another one that interferes . . .There have been people who have had success while still on verapamil. Yes, o2 is okay, if it works for you it's a life saver. Tapering off drugs is something to talk with your doc about . . . especially if they are for another condition (besides CH)! *positive light and energy* miapet |

I have only been aware of triptan interference, so if it didn't for you, *happy dance*, I'll reword my previous response: for many people, a 5 day detox of triptans is required, unless you're one of the lucky ones, like forgetful *g* congrats and continued success! Brian, continue reading and asking questions, it's the way we all learn! *positive light and energy* miapet |

Title: Re: Took LSD 2 months ago, now have CH for a month Post by dirky on Jan 21st, 2005, 5:14am On the subject between the differences between LSD and Shrooms. I thought this may help you inform your choice of treatment when considering the LSD/Psilocybe mushroom choice. This letter responds to a statement by Caroline Flint (A minister involved in the proposed Banning of fresh psilocybe mushrooms in the UK) that Shrooms were (amongst other things) highly halucinogenic and therefore dangerous, and similar to LSD. 20th January 2005 Response from Professor David Nichols, President of the Heffter Research Institute, to comments made by Caroline Flint MP regarding psilocybin mushrooms.* * Mrs/Ms Flint’s comments, in quotation marks, were prompted by a letter she received from Simon G. Powell BSc. "Mr Powell refers to the relatively low health risks associated with magic mushroom use. However, magic mushrooms, like LSD, are highly hallucinogenic.” Professor David Nichols: What does that mean? Highly hallucinogenic? Is being "highly hallucinogenic" inherently dangerous, and if so why? “They are particularly harmful to those with mental illness or with an underlying mental health problem and can precipitate psychosis. Users are also vulnerable to self harm whilst under the influence.” Professor David Nichols: There is no evidence that hallucinogens produce mental illness in anyone not predisposed to it. That is, persons who experience onset of psychosis would likely have suffered it in any case; hallucinogens may expedite the process. LSD is most problematic in that regard because it also activates dopamine pathways in the brain; the same transmitter that is believed to be involved in psychosis. Psilocybin does not activate dopamine pathways. “…and, like LSD, those misusing (sic) mushrooms may experience negative flashbacks.” Professor David Nichols: Hallucinogen persisting perceptual disorder (HPPD) as far as I know is only consequent to the use of LSD. I am not aware of documentation that mushrooms cause flashbacks. This effect could well be related to sensitization of brain dopamine systems, a well known phenomenon, which could occur with LSD by is unlikely to occur after psilocybin because of differences in their mechanisms of action. "Mr Powell also refers to the recently published Dutch Report which concludes that mushrooms are not physically harmful to healthy subjects. The report does at least concede that taking magic mushrooms can be very harmful to those with existing heart conditions.” Professor David Nichols: There is no inherent reason for heart problems after hallucinogens unless someone already has a heart condition and they have an experience with mushrooms that causes stress that precipitates a heart attack. Hallucinogens do not interact with the receptors that control blood pressure or heart rate and any cardiovascular problems are only related to stressful events; taking a hallucinogen is not inherently stressful. Thus, anyone experiencing heart problems after hallucinogens is already "a heart attack waiting to happen." “However, the report does not tell the full story; it does not address their effect upon worsening of mental health conditions or the potential for self harm whilst under the influence." Professor David Nichols: Mentally ill persons should not be taking mushrooms, or any psychoactive drug at all. There is no evidence that mushrooms cause mental health problems in "normal" individuals. The potential for self-harm occurs with alcohol intoxication or any drug that clouds the senses. How many alcohol intoxicated persons wreck their automobiles, often killing themselves and others? Alcohol intoxication leads people often to believe that they are completely in control of their actions, when in fact they are not. Mushroom intoxication rarely, if ever, produces such inhibition. Rather, mushroom intoxication is more likely to result in a state where the user is extremely conscious that they should not be out and about. Awareness is most often increased, not inhibited as it is with alcohol. Professor David Nichols: Furthermore, alcohol is one of the most addictive and destructive drugs known to man, often producing lifelong dependence and personal destruction. Mushrooms are not in any sense addictive, nor do they injure the health of normal people. There is not a single documented case of death by mushroom overdose, nor is there a single documented case of mushroom dependence or addiction. David E. Nichols, Ph.D. Dept. of Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology |
