Title: LSA for CH treatment
Post by JoeS on Dec 21st, 2004, 9:33pm
Hello all,  I'm a long-time lurker, first-time poster.

Has anyone had any experience with using LSA (e.g. morningglory or woodrose seeds) for treatment of CH.    Seems easier than growing mushrooms, but perhaps not as effective.

In any case, I'd appreciate any insight anyone has to offer.

Joe

I grew some this summer.  It took a long time and I got enough seeds for about 2 doses.  I haven't tested them yet.

look at www.erowid.com for more info.

Morning glory and woodrose seeds contain a mix of powerful chemicals including vasoconstrictors and purgatives.  In some of the stories on Erowid and other sites, there are reports of fingers and lips turning blue. Leg cramps are common, as is nausea and vomitting.  The vasoconstrictor effect might have an abortive effect.  But the dose and effects are unpredictable.  With repeated use, gangrene is a possibility (as it is with ergotamine and other related compounds).

The sputnik technique or sipping very low doses of the tea is less likely to cause side effects - if someone takes 1/4 the recreational dose over a two day period, they aren't slamming their body like the teenage kid who takes a full or double dose.  But if you have heart or circulatory problems, consider other treatments. Ditto what vig said about reading up on Erowid and other sites - don't rush to a decision on this.

There was a woman from Holland posting on behalf of her husband (his name was Jos, can't recall her name at the moment) who reported her husband had success with LSA from Hawaiian Baby Wood Rose seeds. However, he had taken several doses of psilocybin mushrooms before trying the LSA. As I recall, he got some relief from the mushrooms, then tried LSA once (or maybe twice) and got even better relief.

Would he have gotten the same end result if he had not taken LSA but instead taken a few doses more of mushrooms? Unknown. Would he have had the same success with the LSA if he had started off with it, having taken no prior doses of mushrooms? Unknown.

She hasn't posted in a long time so I have no idea how long the LSA worked in his case. You might try a search using "LSA" and "Jos" as keywords to find her posts.

Thanks for your responses.     I'm going to give it a try with Woodrose seeds, and I'll post a report of how it worked.

Right! That's her name. Couldn't for the life of me remember it.

I'm VERY interested in hearing how the LSA works for you, JoeS. To the best of my knowledge Hannah's reports are the only ones we have so far.

The big advantage of LSA over either psilocybin or LSD is that LSA is perfectly legal in every country I know of. Another advantage is that is widely available as Hawaiian Baby Wood Rose seeds through mail order. No need to wait five or six weeks for the mushrooms to grow. By the way, everything I have read suggests it's a much better idea to use the HWBR seeds rather than Morning Glory seeds. Much less stomach discomfort for one.

Yep, that's the reason I'm going to try it first.   My wife has a bit of a problem with the illegality of the 'shrooms.   Not that she's anything less than 100% supportive, but it just makes her worry.

Will try the seeds as soon as they arrive in the mail.  In the mean time,  must.......stay.......off.........Zomig................

I've just started to test out LSA in the form of Woodrose seeds. first a little back ground. 47, have had CH for 10 years, typically 2 cycles of 6 to 8 weeks a year. Last couple of years, have tapered off to 1 cycle every other year, but cycle lasts 8 to 12 weeks.

Have tried all abortives and most prophelactives, O2 is the only one that works (90% of the time) of which I can stand the side effects.

HA Patterns are generally at night (I can set a clock by the first one which comes at 1:00AM) with follow on attacks every two hours until morning.

Other than that, of course, the ingestion of alchoal, at almost any amount during a cycle will bring on an attack.

So, a week ago I tried using Woodrose Seeds ordered from iamshaman.com. Cracked open two seeds, extracted the center, chopped them up and brewed them in hot water for several minutes. Adding suger (they taste awfull) and peppermint tea I swallowed the brew down.

No real physical effect except for me mild stomach discomfort that may have just been what I ate that day.

The result was a completely CH free night...albiet with a mild "hangover" type headache in the morning. Was even able to tolerate two drinks the following day without setting off a CH. Following two days, vaugue shadows, but nothing requiring O2, even though I took a cautious drink or two.

However, four days later I got walloped by a pretty big CH right before bedtime.

I'm still cautiously optimistic about this form of treatment, but was pretty upset about the latest CH.
