Lyrica (or loracarbef) is for respiratory infections.

Found 120 hits on PubMed. Appears a new drug to treat anxiety, in addition to conditions listed here. No reference to headache from my quick scan of titles.

Pregabalin is a gamma-aminobutyric acid analog that is under development by Pfizer for the potential treatment of central nervous system disorders, including epilepsy, neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia and generalized anxiety disorder. By April 2003, Pfizer had filed for approval of pregabalin in Europe for neuropathic pain and as an adjunctive therapy for epilepsy, and in October 2003 an NDA was filed for these indications and generalized anxiety disorder. At this time, phase III trials in fibromyalgia were ongoing.

It was my post that discussed Lyrica briefly when talking about meds that sound like musical names. ;)  Lyrica (Pregabalin) is a new med in the antiseizure category that may not have even actually come out yet.  It is supposed to be a precursor to neurontin (gabapentin) with hopefully more effectiveness and fewer side effects.  My neuro said that the anti-seizure meds have about a 50/50 shot of being effective on headaches, so we'll see what happens when it comes out!  I should have an appointment soon, so I'll ask him what is the latest on it.

Best of luck!

Lizzie :)
