O.K. It has been 9 months of pain free living. Loved it while it lasted. Last night the beast reared its head again. I am going to schudle a doctors appt today and see if I can get on a new preventative. I know awhile back we took some surveys about our meds.
Anyone know what preventative seemed to work the best for the majority of us ?

I think prednisone is most effective traditional drug, but has a nasty side-effect profile. Verapamil is probably the most common preventative and not too far behind the pred for effectiveness, but takes a while to start working (a week or so). About 50% of us seem to get relief from melatonin (6-12mg before bed) especially those who suffer from night attacks. Without any scientific sources, I would say shrooms http://www.clusterbusters.com/ are the most effective treatment, but no point asking your doctor about that.

Not that I know anything (although I keep looking for those answers), but it seems every cycle is different. Last time we tried everything there was and nothing seemed to work. This time, four years later we are on topomax and verapamil and it seems to be keeping them in check. But who really knows.

Trial and error every time.

Good luck finding the wright concoction. Everyone is a chemically different. Trial and error.

Connie, Are you taking Verap and Topomax together?
