Title: Coenzyme Q10 & GelStat Migraine Post by Janice on Oct 12th, 2004, 8:55pm ;;D Hi everyone. I've not been on in quite a while but still check the message board every so often. But in case I've missed it, has anyone read about or tried "Coenzyme Q10" or "GelStat Migraine Headache Pain Reliever"? I got my new Prevention magazine today and there are articles on both. Yes, I know it says for "migraines", not CH's, but hey, I'll try anything if it works! You can check out the GelStat on their websit www.gelstat.com Preventin Magazine is usually pretty reliable with their promos |

Title: Re: Coenzyme Q10 & GelStat Migraine Post by floridian on Oct 12th, 2004, 9:16pm Not proven to help in clusters, but it does help migraines and may help in clusters. CoQ10 can be a boost to the mitochondria, which are messed up in both types of headache. Quote:
The mitochondrial disturbances seen in migraine (and partially corrected by CoQ10) may also be present in cluster headaches: Quote:

Title: Re: Coenzyme Q10 & GelStat Migraine Post by Renee on Oct 13th, 2004, 6:08am My neuro has me on coQ10 and magnesium as well as my prevents and abortives. One thing I noticed is the price difference in coQ10 between NY, CT and TX. A MAJOR cost difference?? Much less expensive in TX and I have no idea why but I'm not complaining since I live here. p.m. me if you have any further questions regarding the coQ10. good luck! renee |

Title: Re: Coenzyme Q10 & GelStat Migraine Post by floridian on Oct 13th, 2004, 8:37am Part of the cost problem is due to the fact that all CoQ10 comes from a few manufacturers in Japan. Lots of companies repackage CoQ10 in various formulations, but not much competition among the producers of the raw ingredient. I buy from a wharehouse club (Costco), where the prices are very reasonable compared to other retailers. Curious that you mention Texas - Kaneka, one of the Japanese companies is building a CoQ10 production facility in Pasadena, Texas. |

Title: Re: Coenzyme Q10 & GelStat Migraine Post by Renee on Oct 13th, 2004, 7:39pm If I remember correctly, which would be a miracle in itself, the cost of coQ10 in CT and NY was 3 to 4 times what it is in TX. I take 300mg coQ10 daily. Renee |
