Title: Actiq Lollipop Post by unsolved1 on Sep 11th, 2004, 12:42pm Well..I did it. I woke up this morning @ 5 am. Stayed up for about an hour and went back to sleep. ( I was bored ) I didn't wake back up til almost 11:30 ... my eye felt like it had a stick in it when I woke. (A CH attack was coming on quickly) I grabbed the lollipop (& my Imitrex) and headed for the bathroom. I sat in there (in the dark) with my head pounding for what seemed like forever. Finally, after almost an hour, the pain started to go away. It never reached full blown (probably about a KIP 7). I never used the Trex. The Actiq lollipop: (1) took too long. (2) Was NOT 100% effective In conclusion, the lollipop may have been better than nothing, but I would never give up the Trex for a narcotic. (my eye still hurts a little) Unsolved :-/ Actiq = Placebo ?? j/k (it just didn't help much) |

Title: Re: Actiq Lollipop Post by Kevin_M on Sep 11th, 2004, 1:53pm I don't know Mike, I know you want to use less trex though. If you had the Actiq and didn't use the trex for over a day at least, that span of time off of trex could be enough to try Zomig. I don't know but it's a change anyway. no prevents even lessen the attacks some? more vibes to you Kevin M |

Title: Re: Actiq Lollipop Post by unsolved1 on Sep 11th, 2004, 1:59pm Kevin, Zomig won't help me. I tried it and regretted it since I was in severe pain for over an hour. There's not too many things that I haven't tried. Prevents lessen the attacks ?? YES ... HUGE doses of steriods will help me. I just can't stay on that stuff forever. It's killin me ! Imitrex (injections) are STILL my only real relief. Thanks Kevin PF Wishes, Unsolved |

Title: Re: Actiq Lollipop Post by catlind on Sep 11th, 2004, 6:06pm Michael, I would suggest you try the Actiq for only those attacks that you get WHILE awake rather than one that comes on during sleep. The ones that hit at 4 a.m. are not able to be helped with the Actiq (for me). The ones that come on in the afternoon and evening are helped, not aborted, but definitely helped. Of course with no trex to use anyway, I don't have much choice hehe. Rebounds suck (for me) though. Cat |

Title: Re: Actiq Lollipop Post by Lizzie2 on Sep 11th, 2004, 7:02pm Hey Unsolved, Sorry the actiq didn't do much. :( I asked my doctor about wearing the duragesic patch because my chronic pain level has not been below an 8 since I got out of the hospital in January (not kip 8...regular 8), but he said no because I'm a nursing student and he's had problems with prescribing narcs to nurses before. Grrrrrrrrreaaaaaaaaaat...so in health schools they make such a HUGE deal about pain control, yet because I'm a health care professional, I can't have any part in it. Lucky me. So I'm instead going to do my honors thesis (if I make it into the honors program) on nurses (or health professionals in general) who live in a high level of chronic pain. Anyhow...sorry that was kinda off topic. But I feel the frustration about no relief from nada. Well, trex helps you and amerge helps me...but still not allowed to take it like I want. Hugz, Lizzie :) |

Cat, that does seem like a better use of them. It would help curtail the trex usage. The one's getting awoke with, can be a long challenge for the trex NS, they are well on their way and hard to catch and corral. Kevin M |

Title: Re: Actiq Lollipop Post by Samantha_Smith on Sep 11th, 2004, 8:16pm Unsolved-- I'm so very sorry to hear that the transmucosal fentanyl did not work out. Did a doctor or pharmacist tell you that the lollipop would be 100% effective? Would you be willing to try it again, perhaps under different conditions, as Cat and Kevin suggested? What happened with the Clomid? Did you discontinue it? Just curious. I wish you many pain free days and nights because you sure do deserve them! Samantha |

Title: Re: Actiq Lollipop Post by unsolved1 on Sep 11th, 2004, 9:01pm Still on the Clomid (100mg / day). It may be reducing the number of attacks ... but it's still no cure for me. I still rely heavily on Imitrex injections. :-/ Unsolved |
