Just a reminder. It really hasn't been mentioned for a while and nobody picked up on it in vietvet2tours' thread when he stated he ran out of Zomig and bummed an imitrex.

You need to wait at least 24 hours from your last dose of your current triptan before using a different triptan based medication. Failure to do so could be hazardous to your health or even fatal.

Last time a family member did that it was Roxy (Tracey)....she and Cat were on a road trip and had to pull off the highway and call for help.

She spent days in the hospital and her husband had to fly up from texas.

DONT DO IT!!!!!!

Thanks for the info. When the doctor gave me the Imitrex, he didn't tell me that I couldn't take the Zomig anymore. There were 1 or 2 times when I aborted with the Imitrex in the evening, and then tried the Zomig at 3am. I just didn't know[smiley=oops.gif] Thankfully nothing bad happened. I am glad I had an appointment with my regular doctor a couple days later, she told me what was up. Good reminder.

I have to agree with everyone else. My POS old neuro gave me Zomig, Trex and Amerge. Didn't tell me crap about mixing them and didn't say a word about not taking Amerge more than 2 tabs a week. After 3 liver tests, a trip to the ER and a bunch of swearing and thinking it was over, I got wise.

One neuro I saw gave me eight different boxes of four triptans and told me to "play around with these." ....sans explanations/intreactions of any sort so I asked him about the 24 hour rule and he said it didn't really matter.

I DID NOT GO BACK THERE!!!!!

I am so thankful that I started lurking on this site before I went there and read a post just like this one.

I had asked about the 24 hour rule... and got the same doesn't matter response.

Another reason I'm on doc # 4 just in this cycle.

Swear to G-d..... learned more from this site then any doctor.

It gets tiring trying to educate.
Why the hell is that?

I'll be bringing tons of info to my current one who seemed great but now not so sure. We'll see on Tuesday.

No shit... I've even mentioned this site to a doc or two and they just roll their eyes like they're the fucking expert, when in fact they don't know shit!

That is totally insane....neuro's saying it doesn't matter?? aRgh!!

Roxy damn near died, she had a cardiac event (she has absolutely NO cardiac history) that damn near killed her. She was as close as one can get and still be around to tell about it.

DO NOT MIX YOUR TRIPTANS!!

That had to be the scariest day I've had in a very very very long time. When a friend you love is bent over in pain clutching their chest and you KNOW what is going on and you are no where near a hospital and not even in a familiar state....

Just don't do it, don't hurt yourself, your friends or your family that way. It CAN kill you.
