Store them in a cool dry place.  they can't get above 85'F

I wrap my Imitrex in plastic bags and store them in the basement.

I just got my first batch of them and my neuro told me to put them in the frig.  Is that too cool for them?  Where do you give your injections?  I am leaning towards the thigh?

I store them in a cabinet in the basement bathroom - cool, but not cold.  My doc said to avoid the freezer, since extreme temp changes can reduce effectiveness over time.

And yes, I always use my thigh for injections.  First ... it's right there in front of you.  Second ... I'm tiny and petite, so it's just about the only place I can use where I'm sure I'm injecting subq instead of IM.  Third ... when I was a little girl, I can remember getting shots in my arm and butt from docs and nurses that really hurt!

But that's just me!  *smile*

Mine are in a plastic container in the basement, with just one box of them (5) in the medicine cabinet.

I inject mine just to the side of where you would shoot up heroin (no, I do not do that).  Looking down at my arm, palm up, about 1-3 inches up my left forearm, over to the right.  Wherever I have a clear spot.

If you are new to them Nancy, I suggest you play around with the dosages.  I get total relief 90% of the time with just .125ml.

As long as the temp doesn't get too hot or too cold and the vials are undamaged ... they'll be good for a long time. I've used em' years after expiration.

Wish i was new to imitrex ,bro....I bought imitrex injections the first day they came on the market...have had chs for over 25 years now..5 years chronic..But, never had vials before to store....I dont have a basement , so do I put them in the refrigerator or what? I am an RN and I alternate sites for my injections..a little trick I learned in school LOL...But mainly use my thighs as they are easier to reach....Hate the injectors so I have never used them ...I can still remember the first injectors...damn those things were huge...scared the crap out of me the first time I saw them...I had to learn how to take the syringe out of those suckers... ;;Dnancyc

You may want to look at this site, although I cannot guarantee its accuracy.

http://www.cc.nih.gov/ccc/patient_education/pepubs/subq.pdf

The point I wanted to make is the  injection delivers medicine into your subcutaneous tissue -- the tissue between your skin and muscle. Subcutaneous tissue (also called "sub Q" tissue) is found throughout your body.

Good luck.

I don't think the fridge is necessary, Nancy, but I doubt it would hurt.  I think any place where it's not exposed to heat or other temperature extremes would be OK.
