Title: Imigran Shots - Where? Post by caseybarton on Aug 26th, 2004, 12:06am I am new to the Imigran shots. Just wondering where you all inject them? Not, like, in the bathroom, or, in my bedroom...but where on your body? The instructions show the thigh. I think I read someone here talk about the arm. I sone place better than another. Does it even matter? Is there anyplace I should avoid (besides the obvious places)... Sorry, a bit tired right now. Haven't really slept for about 2 weeks. Thanks Casey |

Title: Re: Imigran Shots - Where? Post by Davjac on Aug 26th, 2004, 10:46am Hi there, Ihave been on imigram injections for about a year now. I have found the best place to inject is the upper outer aspect of the thigh. Tried in my arm and stomach and it stung like hell. On a positive note they work brilliantly. If you use them as soon as you get the first signs of an attack you still get pain but with me it kills it in 5 to 10 minutes. |

Title: Re: Imigran Shots - Where? Post by JDH on Aug 26th, 2004, 12:31pm I've always shot it in my thigh. That's where the doc originally recomended so I've stuck with it. Jim |

Title: Re: Imigran Shots - Where? Post by Bob P on Aug 26th, 2004, 5:25pm I do the thigh only because I do the 1/2 shots and it's easier to work with using both hands. Hub says he'd inject in his pecker if it will stop the cluster! |

Title: Re: Imigran Shots - Where? Post by Redd715 on Aug 27th, 2004, 10:18am The only thing you have to be concerned about is making sure you don't hit a muscle. It's a Sub-Q shot, meaning under the the skin, best into a bit of fatty tissue, and I found the only places on my body that have enough of that is on the belly or the inner thigh. Now that I break the shots down into 1/2's and use a syringe, short extra fine insulin needles are great and I do it in the belly just as a diabetic would. Don't even feel it. |

Title: Re: Imigran Shots - Where? Post by caseybarton on Aug 28th, 2004, 10:32am Thanks for the tips. I will try a couple of places to see if anything works differently or better. I appreciate all of your help. I do kinda feel bad for Hub though... Casey |

Title: Re: Imigran Shots - Where? Post by Tom K on Aug 31st, 2004, 10:21pm I was shooting in the leg but with getting all giddy about the CH going away or stress from the CH, I was driving the needle into my muscle. Saw the times of how long the Trex needed to work go up. Started to shoot in the stomach and my time from injection to no CH is back to 4 minutes. Just pinched up a little of the extra "subcutanious" around the middle...like there is just a little! LOL! And shot it into there, no pain and fast acting! |

Title: Re: Imigran Shots - Where? Post by Judo_Tom on Oct 9th, 2004, 2:15pm so the injections are supposed to go into fat not muscle correct? if it goes into the muscle it takes LONGER? is this correct.. shouldnt it be the other way around i believe thats the case with most other drugs although i could be mistaken |

Title: Re: Imigran Shots - Where? Post by Tom K on Oct 9th, 2004, 4:23pm You are mistaken. Read the paper in the box. Subcutaneous is where it is supposed to go. Some drugs are shot into the muscle others into subcut, depends on their make up. Not a chemist so I couldn't tell you why. Shooting into the abdomen, I have had it work as quick as 4 minutes from shooting. T |
