Title: Imitrex Time
Post by IndianaJohn on Aug 3rd, 2004, 12:32pm
Ok, I finally timed how long it took for my nasal spray to work.  It took 3 minutes to get significant relief and 5 minutes to get complete abort.  This was with a Kip 8 HA.

Just wondering how much faster are the injections?

PFDAN to all..

Hi.

I dont think the injections work faster, i'm surprised by the speed of the nasal, didnt think it would work so fast.

Injections take about 5 mins for me.

I've used both and the NS and the injections and the injections have always been faster acting.
But then again I've never had a NS abort a h/a in 5 minutes either.
Glad to hear your getting relief,

Jim

If your nasal spray works for you that fast ... I'd call it a winner !

Why mess with the injections if you get complete relief within 5 minutes. The injections aren't going to work any faster.

Agreed...  Keep it simple.

Nasal sprays are 20 mg doses.

If you take the entire dose, which no sane CH'er does.

CH'ers should get their Trex in vials & syringes, not in autoinjectors.

Using Trex from vials, I have found that .125ml takes care of 95% of my CH's in 3-5 minutes.  For the other 5% I take another .075ml after 5min.

So... I am taking about 1.5mg per dose.

Go with the vials & syringes.  They are 6mg/.5ml.

Shit!  That's fast!  I've been getting clobbered lately and it's taking 30 or 35 min for the nasal to work.  Almost makes me wonder if it's really doing anything.  Pills = 50 min.... I know, I know... but if you're headed for an 80 min CH and you have nothing else...

Unfortunately, trex will not touch my attacks unless I am using the full 6mg.  At least 5+ anyway.  Not enough for me to justify vials and doses.

Feelin pretty damn sane...

Heh heh heh!  You must have a grapefruit-sized hypothalathingy!

I started with .3ml... about half a vial.  Kept stepping it down until I found my lowest effective dose.

A full 6mg... ouch!  True though, not worth the hassle.

I require 4 - 5 mg per shot. Any less and it doesn't help...any more and the side effects get scary.

I aways ask for free samples of Imitrex in any form.  Kind of like the last line of defense.
