Title: For those using needles ... Post by UN_SOLVED on Jul 28th, 2004, 10:44am I was wondering what kind / size of needles you use with the Imitrex injection vials. "B-D 1CC Tuberculin Syringe Slip Tip" B-D 1ml 27g1/2 (0.4mm x 13mm) Are these what you use ? Unsolved |

Title: Re: For those using needles ... Post by rbmb on Jul 28th, 2004, 8:29pm I use DHE to abort instead of Imitrex, but I think in either case it is an IM injection. I use BD 26g, 1" needles.......I've used 5/8" insulin needles when that was all I could get and sometimes the shot seemed ineffective, I think because the needle wasn't getting into the muscle, only under the skin and fat layer where it is absorbed slowly. I also use 3 ml syringes even though the DHE dose is only 1 ml as it is easier to draw the fluid out of the vial and easier to get the air bubbles out with a larger syringe. Rich |

Title: Re: For those using needles ... Post by Kris_in_SJ on Jul 28th, 2004, 9:06pm I'm not familiar with DHE - Imitrex girll, myself. However, Imitrex is not meant to be injected IM - only SQ. shorter needles are best. Kris |

Thanks all. I have both DHE 1mg vials & needles and Imitrex injection vials & needles. Kris is right, Imitrex is only meant to be subQ while DHE is an IM injection. Thanks again, Unsolved |
