Title: Question light sensitivity??? Post by NAB on Jun 23rd, 2004, 1:19pm [smiley=huh.gif] Hi everyone, my husband has been diagnosed with cluster headaches. We seem to have broke the cycle however he is still light sensitive. Was wondering if any other of you have experienced this and if so what helps. We have purchased glasses with a special tint however that only works soo long. Thanks, |

Title: Re: Question light sensitivity??? Post by thomas on Jun 23rd, 2004, 1:57pm I am a little light sensitive as well, always have been though. Just hate bright lights............. that's why I'm not an actor. ;;D Seriously, what do you mean by light sensitive, does daylight trigger a ch for him, or does it just hurt his eyes? Need more info, please. |

Title: Re: Question light sensitivity??? Post by Gator on Jun 23rd, 2004, 2:12pm Light sensitivity is not common with ch, but is not unheard of either. It usually has do do more with glare than direct light. I have the same problem where glare will trigger an attack. I can be it an evenly lit room or area and not be bothered, but there are times, that a light or the glare from one - even a dim one (like my aquarium light) seems like it is burning into my eye. Other than wearing sunglasses (and you are right, even that doesn't always work) and/or avoiding the glare when possible, there is not much I have found that helps. Sorry, I wish I could be of more help. Gator |

Title: Re: Question light sensitivity??? Post by purpleydog on Jun 23rd, 2004, 6:12pm Light hurts my eyes too. I thought it was from my migraines, but I have the same problem when I'm in cycle and a migraine happens to not hit me that day. I keep the blinds drawn on most windows and my husband complains that he's in a cave. I wear sunglasses when I'm outside and try not to look directly at light sources. I got the darkest tint available when I got my sunglasses. The best $260.00 I ever spent. Also, I have a visor I wear outside that comes down past the sides of my eyes so that keeps out sideways light. When I'm driving and the sun comes in through the side window, I move the visor around until it blocks the sun, but I can still see what's next to me . I love the sun, but I hate the light. purpleydog |

Title: Re: Question light sensitivity??? Post by NAB on Jun 26th, 2004, 3:20pm Thanks everyone for your response. The light whether sun light or store lighting seems to make the right eye throb as well as provide a headache that seems to last at least an hour. He is much better than what he previously was when he was in a full circle cycle but I fear that one day the lights will just bring it back on. He has invested in glasses that help somewhat as well as has discovered that he can wear a baseball hat and keep his head down and he is fine. Guess that we need to learn to have a quality of life without the sun and lights. Like someone on the board stated welcome to our cave! :-/ |

Title: Re: Question light sensitivity??? Post by Racer1_NC on Jun 26th, 2004, 4:16pm I've always been bothered by extremely bright light.....even before the CH raised it's ugly head. Sunglasses are in order on a clouldless, blue sky day. During a hit, my eyes are shut, so I really can't say if it would bother me then. Bill |
