I use depakote to prevent my CH's - Works about 80% of the time... anybody have any information on this drug (side effects, ect) or have taken it with good/poor results?

Any feedback would be great.

Years ago, depakote did nothing for D's c/h. Depakote is an anti-seizure drug that works on the frontal lobe.

I took depakote for about a year. I took 500mg in the morning and 500mg at night. I found that it made me hungrier than normal and i put on a little bit of weight. After about 2 weeks on the meds i noticed a slight decrease in the frequency/intensity of the attacks, but not much.

I use shrooms and ABSOLUTELY SWEAR by them :)

I'm taking Depakote as well it's only been a week though,
Honestly not sure how i feel about any of the other meds other than Zomig (awesome)

I 'm not noticing a decrease in frequency yet most I think are decresing in intensity. Except the ones that catch me in my sleep... I f I even get to sleep. Those are the real bastards!!!

Willing to try anything. And keep a journal. These doctors are supposed scientists so through data,data,data in there face!!!!!

I took Depakote and it actually made the HA's much worse! I would never take it again.
