Title: HELP! Post by alleyoop49 on Jun 17th, 2004, 10:07am I need some advice. I've got to be best man at a big wedding this Saturday (6/19). Of course what I am worried about is getting hit during the ceremonies and ruining my friends' wedding, especially since most of my hits have been in the afternoons and evenings lately. I have some trex pills and thought about taking one right b4 the ceremony starts. I don't know if this will help or not as I have had little or no success with the pills in the past. I also have the trex spray and injections but don't see how I could use either one once the ceremony begins. My friends (the happy couple) know about my condition and have told me not to worry about it, that it will be 'ok' no matter what happens. But, as this is going to be a rather large wedding, you can imagine my anxiety over what could happen if I get hit with a kip 7 or 8. I am trying not to obsess over this because I feel that stress sometimes brings the beast on, but I just can't help it. I tried to get out of this but now that I'm commited, I don't want to screw up their big day. Thanks in advance for any and all sugestions. BobB |

Title: Re: HELP! Post by Ueli on Jun 17th, 2004, 11:00am As is well known, triptans in pill form are usually much to slow to abort an ongoing attack. But yes, they are great for occasional use as short term preventatives. With this use I have survived Chinese dinner, and I am very susceptible to MSG. I'd say, go for it! But if you have the chance to get some Amerge or Relpax it will even last longer than Imitrex (ask your doctor for samples). A wedding is nice if it's not you getting into the trap. ;;D PFNADs Ueli [smiley=smokin.gif] |

Title: Re: HELP! Post by alleyoop49 on Jun 17th, 2004, 11:17am Thanks Ueli, Thanks Thomas! I've never tried them as a short term preventative but was hoping that that might work. When do you suggest that I take it- maybe 1/2 hr b4 the thing starts? Give it time to do its thing? As far as the other meds go, I called my neuro day b4 yesterday and begged for more trex since I was out. He gave me 2 injection fefills, 3 sprays and 5 pills. I felt I was damn lucky to get that! At the time, I figured that the pills were useless but I guess not afterall. I hesitate to ask for more. I know I'm not his only patient, if you know what I mean. Thanks again you guys. |

Title: Re: HELP! Post by Rock_Lobster on Jun 17th, 2004, 1:35pm 100% agreed with Ueli & Thomas. 30 minutes before a critical business mtg I popped an otherwise-near-useless Trex 100 as a 2-hour preventative. Good luck! Rock |

Title: Re: HELP! Post by alleyoop49 on Jun 17th, 2004, 3:46pm Thanks Rock! Hey Don, I empathize with you! I wasn't diagnosed until about four yrs. into this marriage. Of course, on the other hand, these CHs are a lot of extra baggage that I didn't have when we got married. I know one thing - they haven't made marriage any easier! BobB :( |

Title: Re: HELP! Post by Superpain on Jun 17th, 2004, 6:03pm I had to run to the bathroom and shoot up at my own wedding just about the time the music started! [smiley=laugh.gif] I'd just keep a statdose handy if I were you. Cut the sleeve off your tshirt on one side so you can simply pull the jacket off your shoulder and go right through the Tux shirt. |
