Title: triptans
Post by zebb37 on May 18th, 2004, 10:18am
my doctor for the past few years  has been prescibing me zomig and imitrex - pill & injection. have just read that they should not be taken within 24 hrs of each other. anyone have experience of this.

also, these are daily intakes throughout the course of my episode - usually 4 - 6 weeks.

i probably take - at the peak - about 15mg zomig a day or 7.5 if i'm using both injections of imitrex

was worriied as i read that u shouldn't take more than a few doses a week.

there has to be another way  of doing this. the majority of my ch's are rated between a nearly suicidal 8 and totally so 10

btw -no insurance here. About $50 covers all medicines for 4 months

No, you should not mix triptans, it can kill you.

One of our members Roxy took 2 different triptans together and ended up in the ER while on a road trip with heart problems.  It is serious and should not be done.  She had done it many times before and never had a problem but that one day it got her.  Read the insert that comes with the meds it says not to take within 24 hours of another triptan.

Yep, I have experience with this......unfortunately, it was a bad experience.

All of the triptans that we use have the warnings written on the inserts.  I don't care what your doctor says, the triptans are not supposed to be mixed.

Don't mean to sound melodramtic.....but it will kill you.
