I would be very greatful if anyone here could advise me on recommended doses for fresh shrooms as a preventive for CH. When searching all i've found is dosages for dried shrooms. I can legally buy and consume fresh shrooms where I live.

Also does anyone have details of how best to consume fresh ones. i read once that they can be full of bugs so its best to boil them in to a tea? Sorry if this has been covered lots before - just cant find it!

Do not boil them.Heat destroyes the 'magic'
fresh shrooms are 90% water so 10g fresh is ~ 1g dried

If you happen upon mushrooms growing on manure in the wild, the chances of an insect infestation is high. If they are grown on grain indoors, that is much less common (though it can happen).

Also, because of the interpretation of UK law, growers are choosing strains of mushrooms that are low in water content - it is legal to grow and sell them as a natural product, but drying them seems to be illegal as that is ártificial. Strains with low moisture keep longer, so the market adapts.

Thanks Billyj - not an exact science is it. I asked the salesman about the strength of his mushrooms and he said an £11 bag contained about two trips.

Thanks for the link Floridian. I can get to the portobello road quite easily. Out of the schrooms mentioned (Mexican, Columbian, Thai, philosophesr stone) does anyone have any data about which of these might be best for CH?

Lee -

Any psilocybin mushroom will work well for CH. They all contain psilocybin and psilocin. (It's the psilocin that does the work, psilocybin is converted to psilocin by the body.)

However...

Some species contain more psilocybin/psilocin than others, and you may want to adjust the dosage. Usually when the ClusterBusters talk dosage, they are talking psilocybe cubensis. Some species are stronger than cubensis, others are weaker, but those sold for recreational purposes are not likely to be much weaker. When in doubt (my opinion) err on the side of caution.

Remember, it doesn't take much. A heavy trip is usually not needed to chase the beast away.

I just used the "small dose as abortive/cumulative preventive" method to stop my cycle, and didn't have to really get high at all. (See the "very low dses work" post.)

Thanks tommyD. I think I'll go for the Mexican ones which appear to have the least tripiness factor. i was just concerned about the door shutting thing, not wanting to have to repeat the excercise too often - its taken me quite some time to get this far.

I'll let you know how it goes, and any more tips on fresh consumption would be most welcome.

This fresh shroom prep and dose worked for me. In a blender place 1 or 2 shrooms, if your new with shrooms start with one. Add 8-10 ounces of orange juice, grape juice or whatever strong tasting juice you like. Liquify for 1-2 min then drink all at once, don't stop or the taste may get to you. To avoid stomach cramps I take Imodium prior to dosing, may be called something else over there. Good luck!

Sounds simple, but also sounds like they're not going to taste very nice ::) Just hope the buggers work.

not 2 sure about the 10 gram thing or not. the one or two shrooms is enough. whew yeah enough. i would not recomend taking 5. no

Still procrastinating I'm afraid zebb.

Still trying to 'educate' my wife, and would rather not have to be in a 'responsible' position/situation when the time comes (we have three young kids). Rest assured I shall let you know of the outcome as and when, and thanks again for everybody's input.
