Title: cold air Post by carmela on Apr 23rd, 2004, 10:18pm Hi Everyone, The last few nights when I woke up with a CH I stood in ront of the air conditioner with the cold air blowing on the back of my head.I don't know if it is just a fluke but it seems to cut down on the time it lasts. As long as it works I'll do it. I tried ice packs but they didn't work. Carmela |

Title: Re: cold air Post by 9erfan on Apr 24th, 2004, 3:48pm Hi Carmela, Welcome to the board. Yes, cold air seems to help a lot of people here. Those who don't have air conditioning in their homes will run out to their cars in the middle of the night and turn on the air. Whatever works I say. Virginia |

Title: Re: cold air Post by sandie99 on Apr 27th, 2004, 5:07am Thanks for the tip! There's one thing I have not tried yet. Ice cubes do not help me, either. But ice cream does and glass of ice cold juice helps to deal with the pain emotionally.... :) Best wishes & PFdays, sandie99 |

Is a 'brain-freeze' from eating too much ice cream too fast the closest thing to a cluster that the average person could understand?? |

Many times I've used brain-freeze when trying to explain the cluster pain to a Freehead (thanks Big Dan, good word). Just think of how bad a 15 second brain freeze hurts..............now multiply the pain level by 50 and have the it last 45 minutes. Ice directly on the face, no wrapping it in a towel, is the way I do it. When the pain gets to the teeth, which it usually does for me, I bite on an ice cube and try to freeze my teeth. Maybe its just a distraction but it does seem to help. I also have some of those freezer cups that have a fluid in them to freeze and make slushy drinks. Frozen they are colder than ice cubes and fit in the eye socket real well. |

Title: Re: cold air Post by Roxy on Apr 27th, 2004, 6:23pm I have an under the counter ice maker. Just drop the door down and stick your head in...works great. In a pinch, a bottle of Rain vodka has a nice rounded bottom. Take directly out of the freezer and place on your eye socket. Fits perfectly. |

Title: Re: cold air Post by Redd715 on Apr 27th, 2004, 7:54pm Baggie full of raw rice, dried, split peas, lentils, what have you. (always had a supply of them 4-5 to get threw a good hour or two if need be, as one warmed up grabbed another if I could) Always kept them in there for my "migraines".(evil laugh) Some times they would get tossed out by mistake by well meaning people not knowing what the zip locks with the duck tape was for. In a pinch case the bags of frozes peas or corn tossed hard on the floor to break them up so they mold to fit works well also. |
