Title: Nitroglycerin Triggerred Imaging Tests Post by HypnoticFreddy on Apr 13th, 2004, 10:40pm Hi, Does anyone know if there has been tests done in brain imaging, such as PET scans wih CH vs. non-CH victims after administration of nitroglycerin? It appears to be the ultimate trigger and I wonder if this is how they have seen the evidence of unusual brain activty in the hypothalmus area of the brain, -Scott |

Title: Re: Nitroglycerin Triggerred Imaging Tests Post by wsnyder on Apr 14th, 2004, 1:05am According to the chart in Cluster Headache and Related Conditions, 1999, page 167 and a paragraph on page 166; a person named Arne May did PET scans with NTG in 1998. Apparently these tests helped to confirm the role of the hypothalamus in acute CH attacks. It is a very difficult paragraph to read ... check that, the jargon makes it difficult to understand. Eight patients in the study did not have an acute attack after being administered NTG - they were not in their CH cycles. Bill |
