Title: Ch, Imigran and Prozac
Post by JoeKen on Mar 30th, 2004, 2:58pm
I was diagnosed by a Neuro as having ECH 2 years ago after suffering the symptons for a year. I mention this because my CH is not 'classic' as the attacks can last for 36 hours continually, (rather than a few minutes to a few hours), but other than that I have all the 'classic' symptons. I also have suffered with migraine all my life and I know the difference between CH and migraine, believe me.
Recently I was presribed Prozac as I was also diagnosed as suffering from anxiety/depression, and I started taking the Prozac about a month before I expected my CH cycle to start. The cycle started as expected, late Feb/early March, and initially progressed as expected, starting with repeated 'shadows', some of which developed into Kip 4 or 5 headaches. Just when I was expecting the pattern to continue into full blown Kip 7 or 8 headaches lasting many hours, the cycle appears to have levelled off and reduced to the point today where I can say that over the last week or so I have had nothing but 'shadows'. I have not needed my oxygen or Imigran at all during this time (long may it continue !!!). My GP, when he prescribed the Prozac, said that it might reduce my CH problem as Prozac is often prescribed as a treatment for migraine and other repetetive headaches.
Questions: -
1) does any of this make medical sense to any of you, and
2)  has anyone else experienced similar results, and
3)  is anyone else taking Imigran and Prozac and not noticing any difference in their CH pattern.
JoeKen.

I don't take imigran (imitrex for you newbies) , but I do use prozac as one of my preventives, glad it's helping you also.
