My husband had CH's since High School !  It was very hard on our whole family ! He missed alot of work. He was miserable with pain.  He tried alot of different medications. Some worked, but only a few times...then not at all.
He found the answer within his own dental field....
No medication and No surgery.... He has not had his CH's for many years now. And he has helped so many others end their pain also!

-Many CH sufferers have had dental treatment because they have been mistakenly told that it would help their CH.It almost never does! People shoudn't post things like this on their first post its very suspicious!

I'll bite on this one--is it some form of gum massage?  Ultrasonic vibration?  Maybe CH is caused by oral bacteria?  Please enlighten us.  Do you take credit cards?

He is probably episodic.  When they start back up, we suggest Pred, Verap, and Imitrex.

It was abt. 2am when I found your site, I couldn't sleep and was surfing around. My message was terrible...I'm sorry !!!!! Well, if the field of dentistry is known for high suicide rates and CH has been coined the 'suicide headache' then I believe she may be on to something or maybe its all the free nitrous  [smiley=cool2.gif].

BTW-not trying to make light of a very serious issue with suicide and CH; I know how serious this is--almost been there.

I sincerely hope that this miracle dental cure for CH isn't a dental appliance to prevent bruxism.  I've been wearing one about four times as long as I've had CH.  Maybe the damned thing CAUSED my clusters!

It's an electric tooth brush.  You brush your eye (affected side only) three times a day.  Don't use tooth paste though...

Hmm... that is interesting. You see, before I got my first CH attack, my dentist checked my mouth and found nothing wrong and since my attacks started, the same happened again. I don't think it's my teeth that's killing me couple times a day....

That was the cure.....!!!  I knew it!!!  Did everyone see the picture of big giant tooth?  Well all u do is stand at the bottom of a 20=story building...and someone on top pushes the Big Giant Tooth off of the side..and it goes KERPLUNK...right on the top of your big aching head....and its all over with....that was so easy...wish I discovered that 20 years ago ;;D...Luke

I'm sad to say, it didn't help. Here's what happened:

First, I went to the yellow pages and thumbed to the section on dentists who specialize in curing headaches. As this is a rather thick section of the yellow pages, I checked out all the ads and picked out one that was the largest with the coolest graphics. Noting the address I grabbed my sample, which was convieniently packed away in an old butter tub, and headed over there immediately.

Well, it turns out I should have called to make an appointment, because when I got there, I discovered they were already full of shit.

Ummmm, errrr....Lord, how I hate to jump in here....but, guys....there MIGHT.....as in MIGHT be something here!
Hear me  out, please.....
My daughter, now 28 yrs old, had a cavity when she was about 2. The dentist, a regular GP Dentist, gave her the usual novocaine...it did nothing....long story short, she ended up with everything in her mouth being numbed...except the affected area...and the dentist kicked her out of the chair to boot! :-[ It was a horrendous experience, you can only imagine....as we were leaving this dentist's ofc, one of the ofc personnel handed us the card of another dentist...I called immediately upon our return home, we got in the next am(Dana's mouth shredded, but no longer numb....)
This dentist asked about the prob, we explained it, handed over the X-rays, and I told him she seemed to be impervious to novocaine.....to which he replied "never use the stuff"......Dana was placed in a chair, given a paddle-like implement to hold....and ,lo and behold, everything he needed to do, he did! Dana is now grown, we have discovered she was born with crossed roots...I know..go figger...but this man, with his paddle, managed to create a brain-wave...which SOMEHOW interferes with the pain receptors in the brain..thus , short-circuiting NOT the function, but the SENSATION OF PAIN...if yer brain doesn't KNOW you are hurting....well, if a tree falls in the forest.....................

At any rate, for a year or so now, I have been trying to track down info in this regard....laugh if you must,,,,,but if it can work for dentistry........well, you finish that sentence.....

BTW- YES, we did file a complaint against dentist #1...what a horrendous first experience with a dentist for our daughter, but she's grown, and lovely....and she would be mortified if she knew I was relaying this story....

Anywhooooooo.....well, that's MY story, an I'm stickin to it.....

The dentist, a regular GP Dentist, gave her the usual novocaine...it did nothing....long story short, she ended up with everything in her mouth being numbed...except the affected area...and the dentist kicked her out of the chair to boot! :-[ It was a horrendous experience, you can only imagine....as we were leaving this dentist's ofc, one of the ofc personnel handed us the card of another dentist...I called immediately upon our return home, we got in the next am(Dana's mouth shredded, but no longer numb....)
This dentist asked about the prob, we explained it, handed over the X-rays, and I told him she seemed to be impervious to novocaine.....to which he replied "never use the stuff"......Dana was placed in a chair, given a paddle-like implement to hold....and ,lo and behold, everything he needed to do, he did! Dana is now grown, we have discovered she was born with crossed roots...I know..go figger...but this man, with his paddle, managed to create a brain-wave...which SOMEHOW interferes with the pain receptors in the brain..thus , short-circuiting NOT the function, but the SENSATION OF PAIN...if yer brain doesn't KNOW you are hurting....well, if a tree falls in the forest.....................

At any rate, for a year or so now, I have been trying to track down info in this regard....laugh if you must,,,,,but if it can work for dentistry........well, you finish that sentence.....

BTW- YES, we did file a complaint against dentist #1...what a horrendous first experience with a dentist for our daughter, but she's grown, and lovely....and she would be mortified if she knew I was relaying this story....

Anywhooooooo.....well, that's MY story, an I'm stickin to it.....

That's one of the best arguments I've heard yet for wearing an AFDB, tooth-shaped or not.  I don't want a dentist mucking around with my brain waves with a "paddle-like instrument".

No hate mail here. All I can say is - if no one has tried it, how do you know it doesn't work?

Although I would be surprised if no one around here hasn't tried it already. Seems like everythings been tried including peeing on a spark plug and drinking windex.  ;;D

Dentristy and CH are two different animals. The simplicity of a dental solution is very appealing and we hate finding it not to be true....Too bad really.

It would be nice to hear more of this miracle. Still waiting.

Hi!

I have not laughed so much in a while, and bcause of it, I'm about 2 get another attack. I totally agree with everybody's response 2 the dentist story.Even though it made me laugh it was just not good 4 my head.

Well, I quess the thing 2 remember, like I'm sure all of us do, is that when we go through pain we dont always say and do the right thing.

   Cluster headache: Evaluating the effectiveness of aborting cluster headache attack by the urination on a spark plug maneuver.

   Freely IP, Department of Neurology, Welltrianything Hospital, Pisscataway, NJ

   Aborting of cluster headache attacks elicited by a urination on a spark plug maneuver were studied in 4 male patients (mean age 39.8 years) suffering from episodic cluster headache (CH), and 4 healthy male controls (mean age 39.9 years). Surprisingly, no female volunteers could be found for these tests. The tests were performed at rest and while standing around a 1984 Ford Escort with the engine hood removed, the motor running, and the spark plug wires exposed by removing the insulation at strategic points. Hey, it's cluster research, we can't afford expensive lab equipment. During symptomatic periods, the patients were instructed to urinate on the exposed spark plug wires at the point in the attack when they would do ANYTHING to get rid of the pain. The result in every case was electric shock, and no relief for the attack. This leads us to conclude that urinating on a spark plug during cluster headache attack will NOT abort the headache. Disturbingly, one patient insisted on trying it again and again.

Our findings are that, while providing no value as an abortive for cluster headache attacks, pissing on a spark plug can be highly entertaining.
