Title: Good News for a change Post by notseinfeld on Mar 22nd, 2004, 2:38pm It's been close to a month now that I've been on Nothing--Nada, Zilch. No preventatives and no triptans. It's just me and the O2 tank. The decision to vacate treatment came of course out of levels of frustration rarely seen in the human condition. It was doubly knee-knocking in that I'm chronic. As a result there has been a steady decline in attacks to the point where during the last 7 days I've had only 1 attack! I know, it's hard to believe. I still do have a few shadows every day but the every morning headache is all but gone. I don't mean to imply "I'm healed" as TV and alcohol will trigger immediate and painful attacks just that my day to day life has improved so dramatically that I don't know what to do with the brain space that is now available through the departure of anxiety. Still plan to eat some mushrooms if those creepy fungi will ever get to growing. That'll be soon mehopes :) Anyhoo, with all the depression and horror stories here I thought a ray of light would do well. nots |

Title: Re: Good News for a change Post by FZfan on Mar 22nd, 2004, 6:19pm Great news. Bad news may travel fast, but good news is always more welcome. Nothin' but o2, huh? Did you lose a bet? ;;D This must be the day for good news. My last h/a was saturday morning. I believe this cycle (4 weeks, 3 days) has come to an end. Bastard ramped it up good on me last week before retreating back into it's spider hole. I was taking Lexpro, but stopped taking that and did nothing but o2 for the last week and a half. I understand your frustration with ineffective meds. I am episodic, though. I have to think it is much easier for me to drop meds and go o2 solo than it is for a chronic. You have huge ones, my friend. That was a daring experiment. I am thrilled that it is yielding good results for you. I am amazed you were able to stick it out long enough to get those results. Good new for a change. Take that, f'n beast! |

Title: Re: Good News for a change Post by Superpain on Mar 22nd, 2004, 6:42pm That's awesome! Enjoy!!! Damn FZ... You got it good! Not to diminish your pain and torment, but the shortest cycle I have ever had was 5 months I think... I guess i'm just lucky that way. ::) |

Title: Re: Good News for a change Post by FZfan on Mar 22nd, 2004, 7:31pm Well, it sounds to me like you are on the same path as nots. You're doing nothing but o2, right? Maybe if you can stick it out as long as he did, and I know you can, just maybe you'll get the same results? I'm crossing my fingers for ya, man. Lucky, huh? ::) I'm the lucky one. Keep fighting Super, I'm pullin' for ya! Now it's time for your luck to change. *passes the luck wand* |

Title: Re: Good News for a change Post by notseinfeld on Mar 23rd, 2004, 10:56am Thanks for all the heartfelt replies---you're a great bunch of pain addicts here :) I think the natural tendency for a biological system like ourselves is to gravitate toward wellness, balance. While constantly inundating the system with different medications where the mode of operation is "unknown" (as per the pharmacy label) it's no wonder things never really improve. After 4+ years of putting my neurological system throught the ringer it was time to try a more natural method. Actually, the removal of meds couldn't really have added to the pain or frequency of all the damned time. So....if I'm going to have to suffer anyway, why feel like crap during the time I'm not actually in battle? I look forward to watching TV like a "real boy" sometime in the near future. Heck, watching the Pinanist took me around 12 days! Hope others here have their 02 as it's a real blessing--and all natural. knots--(thanks ave_) Ha! |
