Title: Re: What do you do with you imitrex needles? Post by Rock_Lobster on Mar 11th, 2004, 12:52pm I actually did my first Imitrex needle last night (fuckineh!) and am wondering what to do with the .05ml that is still in there between the plunger and the tip of the needle. In an instant I completely understand one reason why heroin addicts reuse their needles. Rock |

Title: Re: What do you do with you imitrex needles? Post by flavin on Mar 11th, 2004, 3:03pm I noticed that as well Rock. Thats why when I injected the second does I turned the needle upside down and pushed the air out of the tip. I guess all those years of watching ER paid off. |

Title: Re: What do you do with you imitrex needles? Post by HypnoticFreddy on Mar 11th, 2004, 6:03pm Will someone explain how this is available in the US? All I can get is Stat Dose Injections. It's a one-shot deal. Help??!!?!? -Feddy |

Title: Re: What do you do with you imitrex needles? Post by Rock_Lobster on Mar 11th, 2004, 6:59pm I told my doc I wanted the vials. He said he never wrote a script for those before. I told him the HMO would cover 16 .5ml/6mg vials in one script. No problem. They come in 5 packs, so the pharmacy packaged it as 3 packs, plus one loose. Did my first one last night. .25ml... half a full dose. Worked like a champ... gone in 4 minutes. Rock |

Title: Re: What do you do with you imitrex needles? Post by t_h_b on Mar 11th, 2004, 9:06pm You should be able to get FIVE approximately 0.25ml doses out of TWO vials. They put a little extra in each vial (0.125ml + or -) to make it easy to draw up. You can get out every little drop. Any pharmacy can get the vials. If you have the Stat Dose injections, use the Imitrex tip over to the left. And ask for the vials next time. Just don't forget to get a script for the 100U insulin syringes. For needle disposal, recap your needles (never recap someone else's needle) and keep them in a disposable plastic container or coffee can until you go to the MD. Then put them in the sharps container. Used syringes are hazardous medical waste and should be disposed of properly. The 0.25ml dose is perfect for me, too. No unpleasant side effects, very rapid relief. |
