I only have a few left...only got 12...no more... and I have a good 3 weeks left of this shit. But....have gotten lots of sampes from 2 friends who suffer. In my eyes..theres not alot to be said about taking too many tablets.....read the inserts that come....doesn't really have good reasearch past about 4 pills in 30 days. Can someone help clarify this? In other words.....worst case scenario?

Not sure exactly what you are asking, but worse case scenario....... stroke or heart attack. Triptans are not to be taken lightly.

The link I found from the OUCH site. I clicked on the Medications link, then Imitrex, and it took me to rxlist.com Sumatriptan Succinate. The above link is in regards to dosage.

Ehhh... when my generic Imitrex from India gets here in 2-3 weeks I will let you know if you can OD on it. I will use that shit like sugar.

Thats the thing Melissa...see on that site..it says no more than 4 headaches in 30 days.....well Ive eaten over 9 so far...and thats been in jst about 2 weeks. This bites huh?

What size do you have left? 25's? 50's? 100's?

You might have luck chopping the 100's in half.

I tend to have bad luck cutting the 50's down. End up taking the other half, with the HA lasting another 20minutes before I figure that out.

What are you taking as a preventative?

Oh... supposedly 200mg a day is the limit for the oral.

I have 100's left...how the hell u cut a traingular pill in half...or whatever funky shape it is..I dont have a pill splitter. Preventatives ive used...but to no avail...vioxx...benadryl...flexeril......wine :)

Just bite it in half if you must. Cut it with a sharp knife... that works.

Prednisone taper until a longer term drug kicks in, such as Verapamil or Topamax.

Stupid of me...yes on prednisone 2week now...doesnt reallyy work. Also..ive been on verapamil 180er and lisinopril for several years too...i have borderline high blood pressure.

You're not really supposed to break the NEW Imitrex tablets.

The cautions are against using more than two doses in 24 hours or more than one dose every two hours. The insert says that it hasn't been studied beyond four per month. That just means you're on your own after four and Glaxo has their ass covered. Talk to your MD about what's safe for you.

(Meegrainers don't usually have but a few headaches a month, so why bother to test beyond four a month?)

You can buy a pill-splitter at the drugstore for a couple of bucks or you could use a razor blade or x-acto kife and DIY. If you ever have to crush a pill the best way is in a door hinge.

just to add to this, unless the pill has a splitter mark (a line down the middle) it should not be split. Also on that same site, is more info. on overdosage: http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/sumitr_od.htm
