I have taken the Imitrex nasal spray a few years ago & can't stand the way that it makes me feel. The side effects of the racing heart, shaking hands, etc. basically makes me feel like I'm gonna have a heart attack. I was considering asking my neuro for Imitrex injections being as though I can't carry my oxygen w/ me when I travel. I need to have something w/ me to abort the HA while away from home.

Does anyone know if the side effects are the same with the injection as they are with the nasal spray? If so, can anyone suggest another type of quick acting abortive that I can take w/ me on my travels?

I believe in all three methods the same amount of drug ends up in your system and therefore similar results. I'm sure my clusterbuddies will correct me if I'm wrong. In the past, the imitrex injections was the only thing I could use in a work related situation.

LAW,
I've used both types of Imitrex that you're asking about and unfortunately they both have the same side effects for me. The good thing about the injections is that they can be broken down into smaller doses which may not cause as bad of side effects for you.
