Title: Re: Diamond Headache Clinic Post by Karla on Feb 17th, 2004, 9:40pm No but I have been to the University of Wisconsins Headache/Pain clinic. I found it to be most helpful. I had a neuro who had worked with me in trying everything the board had recomended. So I went to the ha clinic quite despirate. The dr recomended 2 medicines that I had not tried. Told me to up the dose on one medicine I had already taken. When those 3 medicines failed me. The headache dr(neuro) then used his pain clinic specialty and put me on a very low dose of methadone. This kept me pain free for a year but I slept all the time. I finally asked to try something different and I was put on the duragesic patch. I have been on that now for 6 months and have been pain free on it with good results. I think you will be happy you went. The Diamond clinic is suppose to be one of the best. Good luck! |

Title: Re: Diamond Headache Clinic Post by Camerooskis_Mom on Feb 19th, 2004, 9:44am There are several threads regarding Diamond Headache Clinic. If you do a search you should get some responses. My son likes going to the HA clinic; HOWEVER, my son is 8. I will say that he hasn't gotten much relief from Dr visits (whether it be HA Clinic or Pedio Neuro). Coming here and reading and asking questions has helped us much more and we are finally starting to shorten and/or abort his attacks. I know there is no magic wand to make it go away; but, I do hope you find the stick to beat the beast down with and hurt it at least as much as it wants to hurt you. |

Title: Re: Diamond Headache Clinic Post by don on Feb 22nd, 2004, 3:50pm It seems that the "Diamond" clinic is aptly named. Do some research and I think what you'll find is that they are snake oil salesman with a penchant for draining your wallet. |

Title: Re: Diamond Headache Clinic Post by LadyLuv on Feb 23rd, 2004, 1:56pm :'(Went to Diamond Headache Clinic last year as part of a research (which I got the information off of this sight). I traveled to Chicago twice; 1st was the initial visit to sign up and see if I qualify for their program. I was told that I did qualify. I was given a instruction book and a headache diary to log my clusters, tell of treatment and etc.. I was told that I would be paid for participating in the research as well as given medication or plasbo... I had to call when ever a cycle started and get to the clinic within the next 48 hours. Well on my third visit, they took my diary and I was told that I didn't qualify, because my headache had been on going for the past 24 hours... Some how Diamonds research people are under the impression that a cluster headache start, peak and go away.. Prior to this, I had read several of Dr. Diamonds books and thought it was a good clinic... Oh, by the way... since they disqualified me, I didn't get any pay either. I missed three days of work and traveled 300 (roundtrip) miles each time... So I'm not a big fan of Diamond Clinic |
