Title: Migrinal anyone?
Post by mediccpc on Feb 11th, 2004, 9:30am
I have had Clusters since 1977. About 10 years ago I was introduced to Imtrex. Now, I have been noticing as I approach 40 Imtrex starts to give me chest pain after each use. My Doctor precribed Migrinal. Here in Texas it is so new, Drug stores have to order it. Has anyone used this before and is it worth the time to get on something new? When the beast rears it's ugly head, chest tightness is the least of my worries.

Migranol is not a new drug. Its an ergot alkaloid that usually comes in a spray form. I suspect your pharmacy has to order it because it is one of the older, less used drugs.  I used to use it for migraines and it worked okay (I had not been visited by the beast at that point in my life.) It made my fingers and toes numb and it upset my stomach. Not sure how expensive it is. No drug is side effect free. Have you tried oxygen?

My Neuro diag'd meegrianes so he gave me DHE nasal spray that a pharmacist would mix from compunds and provide in a spray bottle. It was 'ok' cus i could use as much as i needed to try to abort an attack.

Pharmacist left and doc gave me migrinal. Said one vial should handle at least 2 HA's....ya right. I was lucky to get 1 good squirt out of a vial. So frustrated, I would snap the vil open and just snort it straight from the vial instead of using the spray pump.

Had the worse cycle ever in Dec/Jan and still have 2 boxes of Migrinal sitting on a shelf....isn't worth the time and effort.

Just my 2 cents.
