Since I started Verapamil, I have not had to use O2 for about a year. If these bottles were to sit around for another few years....Hopefully they will, but is there any need to exchange them out at some point?

It should be okay indefinitely if you protect the regulator from dust with a plastic bag.

Well - my O2 distributor changes the bottles very other year (if I haven't used any of it). So for safety you may want to have them emptied and refilled...

My O2 bottles have lot/date stamps on them, but I see no reason they shouldn't be good well after that. The current O2 bottles I'm using have been sitting for over 5 years, just trying to finish them off before refilling. These are the O2 bottles from the med oxygen supply store.

Just a update!
I just picked up 3 more "E" bottles of O2 and noticed the date on them said good until 2009, so I think you should be just fine.

....not to worry.... Oxygen is Element 8 ...which puts it up there with some of the Heavy Hitters like Carbon and Hydrogen... created shortly after The Big Bang... like super micro-seconds afterwards... which is like a millionth of God's eyeblink... (for you Creationist's...heh)

...which means that OXYGEN has been around since B.C. (before charlie) ... and it STILL works!

...so DO NOT WORRY.... oxygen worked about 20 billion years ago.... and it will work for YOU next year and the year after ...and...

I was lucky enough to have a brother who worked in the O2 business for years and years. I have literally about 30 bottles in my basement stacked like cordwood. I can't take them back since he doesn't work there anymore. Anyway, I think that they're like old coke bottles and you can take them in and get them filled pretty cheap. My question is can anyone here use them? I'm sure we could figure out some way to ship them if anyone needs one. They're like scuba tanks and need an occasional hydro test, but that might not cost too much. I know I can take a tank down to the industrial compressed gas place and get it filled for about $15. Let me know.

The only prob I've ever had with "old" O2 bottles is leakage in some. Tanks that have been around for a while should be checked now and then to make sure they are still fully charged (2400 to 2500 psi). Its a major catastrophy to grab the last tank during a 8 to 10 only to find it empty.
