Help, I have suffered from these horrible HA for years. I am currently in a cycle and cant get past my dr. new nurse. I have Imitrex nasal spray and I try to stay within the no more than 40mg in a 24hour period. But does anyone know about the 4 headaces in 30 days disclaimer?

Also I re started my preventative treatment of lithium and naprosyn. I was using sansert but that off the market. I have also used prednisone which worked great but side effects give steriodal diabetes.

Any advice ????

I can only speak to the 'new nurse' situation since I do not use any of the meds you mention.

Don't take 'no' or 'put offs' as an answer. If you have to, go to the docs office while having an attack and let the other patients see just how bad it is. That kind of a scene will get you in front of the doc.

If he doesn't see you...fire him and get a doctor that is compassionate and cares. There is NO EXCUSE for a nurse 'proctecting' her/his egotistical boss!

Most MDs leave a little time open for walk-ins. Ask to be squeezed in.

Hello! Glad you made it to this site. My insurance company limited me to 6 each 100 mg tablets of Imitrex per month. I told my doc the situation and she called the insurance company and asked them to approve 8 each tabs per month. I didn't have a problem.

I agree. Fire the nurse and get a new doc. You deserve better treatment as a pain patient and as a human being. If you are still dealing with a regular primary care giver (that was unclear in your email) then I'd highly reccomend getting a neurologist.

Have you ever tried Migranal nose spray or Stadol nose spray, oxygen, or DHE injections?

Imitrex injections are much better than the pills or the spray. The injections will abort my headaches within five minutes if taken early enough. At first I was authorized only 2 boxes per month. The doctors asked for an "over-ride" and I now get 9 boxes or 18 injections per month. I save up in the good times for the cycles.

I know about the nurse at the front door business. That's the problem I have now is getting thru this woman. The doctor always ask, Why didn't you get to me sooner. The reason is the nurse blocking the front door!!
