Title: maxalt 10mg Post by pokemom on Feb 2nd, 2004, 5:29pm I have had CH for about 3 years. :-[. I also have Multipal Sclorosis. Thats about 22 years for that beast. My nuro demanded I start using one of the preventive drugs and so I did. Avonex. started getting these really bad headaches though and he changed to Bataseron. Still band headaches and then we changed to ( a year later) to copaxone. Ok still got these #%*( headaches. And we have tried topamax, depakote, and just whatever he can think of it seems. Nothing! The steriods do help sometimes for a week or so. But you cant talke those a lot and thats all ms suffers have for their attacks. So any way I guess I just wanted to see if any one takes maxalt. And to vent cus right now I have a dang headache. Have to stay busy... :o. Miles of smiles to all of you. Robin |

Title: Re: maxalt 10mg Post by mediccpc on Feb 3rd, 2004, 4:14pm Sorry about the headache. I tried Maxalt for a while given to me by my PCP. It was not very helpful. I was given Verapamil, allot of folks here seem to use it as well. Check with your Doc. |

Title: Re: maxalt 10mg Post by ave on Feb 3rd, 2004, 4:33pm Robin, I hate to do it, but welcome here. What you need to do is check out all themedical info onthe left. You'll find that some things work for some people, but there is as yet nothing that works for everybody all of the time. If it is clusters you are having, pills (as in Maxalt or Imitrex) work way too slow. Or attacks come one too fast, whatever. Imitrex injections are fastest, and a goodly number of people enjoy relief from Imitrex nose spray. Check out the oxygen info. O2 has helped a lot of people. As a preventative, Verapamil seems to be the best, but it takes appr. a week to really kick in. Also, the doses doctors prescribe are usuallyway toolow. But read up on everything you find under the buttons left, and start educating your doctor. |

Title: Re: maxalt 10mg Post by taraann on Feb 7th, 2004, 4:44pm Sorry to hear you are cursed with 2 beasts and suffering so. I have tried maxalt 10mg in reg pill form and quick dissolve tabs with no relief. Have you tried Verapamil, Lithium, Oxygen, or even DHE treatments. I am currently on that and also had an Occipital nerve block. Not sure if it was the Lithium, nerve block or DHE (got all at relatively the same time in thehospital) but I have been PF for 4 days now after a hellish cycle that began in June. Vibes that you find something that works for you! Keep us posted on your progress. |

Title: Re: maxalt 10mg Post by Prense on Feb 9th, 2004, 8:48pm Maxalt has never aborted an attack for me. I tried using it for over three months. At the slightest twinge, I would pop a 10mg MLT...still, I would get fully hammered. No side effects either...other than the slight minty taste, it was nothing. Remember, nothing works for all of us. There is only one way to find out if it will work for you... Let us know. Chris |
