Title: Slept like a baby in cycle! Post by violet on Nov 30th, 2003, 12:52pm Well, the BEAST is back, a hardcore, a**kicking demon! He especially likes to nail me while I am asleep, it's his favorite part of the day, but I fought back last night! >:( Ran him out with his tail between his legs! I slept with an O2 concentrator last night! All night, and I woke up perky, happy and pain free this morning! He was harassing me last night around 10 pm, it's how he usually starts his nocturnal tricks, but once that cannula went in my nose, man, he split. I hope it keeps him at bay for good :-*, we'll see. Title: Re: Slept like a baby in cycle! Post by BlueMeanie on Dec 1st, 2003, 9:27am Vi. I haven't been to a Neuro in years since I found a GP that gives me whatever I ask for. When I did go it was in Kenosha Wi. I Can't remember his first name. (Dr. Douglas) is all I remember. Maybe someone else will post a closer neuro for you. If you are close enough to Kenosha, he was a pretty good neuro though. |

Title: Re: Slept like a baby in cycle! Post by mmaya613 on Dec 7th, 2003, 12:22am I'm glad to hear about your relief. I brought the idea up to my neuro about the oxygen. He says " We're not at that point yet. Im on prednisone, verapamil, and depakote. I was out of cycle for 5 years just came back last month with middle of the night wake me up out of sleep ch's. My question is what meds did you try before using the o2. Did your neuro use it as a first resort or last resort. Please let me know! |

Title: Re: Slept like a baby in cycle! Post by violet on Dec 7th, 2003, 1:04am Well, the all night O2 is kind of a last resort. I use Verapamil and another calcium channel blocker called Nimotop as preventatives. I have tried Neurontin, and Topamax, and they did nothing, and I can't take Depakote because I have Lupus. I also use steroids, injectable and medrol does packs for both clusters and Lupus. The all night O2 with the O2 concentrator I got is a last resort, and it helps so much when I am in cycle. Good luck, I hope that you will be finding relief soon. Vi |

O2 is in no way a last resort...anything that can be used without a truckload of side effects is a first line of defense. It doesn't work for everyone, so I woudn't recommend having only O2 as an abortive, but it should be the first thing you go for when aborting if at all possible. I only use O2 at home. Chris EDIT--Ok, if you are referring to using it all night long... I was merely talking as an abortive. Maybe I misunderstood. |

Title: Re: Slept like a baby in cycle! Post by vig on Dec 8th, 2003, 3:42pm I'm working on getting some O2. How often do you go through bottles? Does a neuro need to provide the 'scrip or can a GP? I made a scene in the Fire Department last night, so now I KNOW it works. Pain Free Days And Nights, Vi! |

Title: Re: Slept like a baby in cycle! Post by vig on Dec 9th, 2003, 5:06pm It sounds like you could really go through the stuff quickly when things get 'rough'. On the other hand, it worked, and it worked quickly. just call me airhead. watch it you! |
