Hi everyone. Arnold is not 'someone'. I have just finished lookng after a female friend with what they (DR's ) decided was the worst Migraine they had ever seen - shes been like it for 35 yrs. With her husband being away, I was 'it' when a cycle started because she knows I suffer the CH's.
Turns out she is a Pethadine addict to boot - I was stuffed after a week of this crap - but also so sad, as no other pain killers work for her and a sweet lady.
'They' have now decide that she perhaps has (after all these frigging years) Arnold Chiari - seems to be that the scull is too small for the brain tissue and so the tissue decends to the spine and then there's an interaction to do with the spinal fluid.
Watching Suzie in her pain is nothing like I am with my CH's ( a raving lunatic), but thought I would post this as it involves the brain as it does for CH'ers

So sorry to hear of your friend suffering with this affliction. Just remember she may NEED the Meperidine (Pethidine in the U.S.) for the obviously awful pain she's in.

There is a term that is relatively a new found Psychological disorder called Pseudo-Addiction:Which basically means that the patient is under-medicated and showing signs of addiction (Hoarding Medications, using numerous Doctors, etc...) in order to aquire pain meds to help her through the pain. Read the link below:

"Pseudo-addiction is a symptom of significantly under-treated pain. The authors believe that pseudo-addiction results from the patient's attempts at achieving adequate subjective and objective control of pain. Once the patient has gained relief, these abnormal pain-mediated behaviors disappear." From:
