Title: No needle Imitrex injector ?? Post by UnsolvedEquation on Sep 8th, 2003, 10:08pm I seen this at http://www.clusterheadaches.org/medications.htm But the link is dead. Has anyone ever heard of a needle-less injector ? Sounds like a joke to me, but if it's not...fill me in ....IM me. thanx |

Title: Re: No needle Imitrex injector ?? Post by Tom K on Sep 21st, 2003, 8:47pm I'm going to talk to the Pharm on Monday and see if they can order up one of these and use the vials. It is worth a shot (no pun intended). Even if it cost me $500 it is cheaper than the 3K I spent in 3 weeks last year on Imitrex. |

Title: Re: No needle Imitrex injector ?? Post by Tom K on Sep 22nd, 2003, 5:03pm Just talked to the doc and the pharm. No Imitrex vials are availble in the US. Hopitals may be getting them, but they aren't going to release them to the public here. May be a different story in Canada, but as for the public in the US, we are out of luck. |

Title: Re: No needle Imitrex injector ?? Post by UnsolvedEquation on Sep 23rd, 2003, 11:14pm I'm not so sure that is correct Tom. Better look around a little harder. I know my doc was gonna get it for me but my insurance wouldn't cover it. |

Title: Re: No needle Imitrex injector ?? Post by kissmyglass on Sep 24th, 2003, 6:47am I'm in Connecticut & I get vials....$350 for 5 vials. I know Tracey in Texas gets vials too... Your pharm may have to order them but should be able to get them. Kev |

Title: Re: No needle Imitrex injector ?? Post by Mastifflvr28 on Sep 24th, 2003, 8:41am Tom, Do you mean just the vials period, or vials that fit the applicator? Cause regular old vials are available in the US, but I'm not sure the applicator needs special vials to fit it. Mast |

Title: Re: No needle Imitrex injector ?? Post by Tom K on Sep 26th, 2003, 10:39pm On the web site it looks like they make an adapter. My doc brought up a question, though. Is trex a drug that can be effective with this kind of injection? I was going to call Glaxo this week, but the week slipped away. I will try next week and see what they have to say. |

Title: Re: No needle Imitrex injector ?? Post by Mastifflvr28 on Sep 26th, 2003, 11:02pm Thanks Tom, Please let us know, might be wonderful for those that have a great fear of needles and can't take trex. Mast |

Title: Re: No needle Imitrex injector ?? Post by Tom K on Oct 10th, 2003, 1:07pm Ok, just got off the phone with Glaxco. They don't have any tests on usage of the Injex 30. I have a call into the company that makes the Injex and when I hear I will post! Sorry, it has taken a while...it has been a brutal week. |

Title: Re: No needle Imitrex injector ?? Post by CMNpain on Oct 10th, 2003, 5:31pm Personally when my beast comes, it is so bad ,I could care less if I had to put a 3 inch needle in my leg to stop the pain! When people take way over the limit of imitrex injections to keep the headaches away I'm surprised anyone cares about the needle. 3 seconds of (possible) pain is worth every nano second to me anyway!!! Title: Re: No needle Imitrex injector ?? Post by ckelly181 on Oct 14th, 2003, 8:36am Yes, it probably is less an issue when you are in horrible pain, but for me, and obviously others, it is still an issue. I would much rather deal exclusively with the ch pain than have to add that annoying extra stress of sticking myself. Thanks for your research on this, Tom! I'd be right at the gate with a request for this method of injection. Chris |

Title: Re: No needle Imitrex injector ?? Post by Prense on Oct 14th, 2003, 9:51pm Stress from stabbing?? I don't get it. The first attack I aborted with trex was mild indeed (kip 4ish). I admit, I was not quick on the draw...thoughts like, "is this gonna hurt", were prevailing. After the stab, I realized that it was nothing. Comparing to the mild attack, it was completely painless. Since then, I have been FAST on the draw! I don't even think about it at all. Just stab and get back to work! I have found some tender spots that I will try to avoid during future stabbings. I always go for the leg though. ;D Fear of a needle is quite a silly concept when compared to an attack. If the relief comes from the needle, I'm stabbin'! ;D |

Title: Re: No needle Imitrex injector ?? Post by Unsolved on Oct 20th, 2003, 12:35am I kinna agree with that. If I had to cut my leg open with dull, rusty kitchen knife and pour the Imtirex in...I'd do without a second thought. |

Title: Re: No needle Imitrex injector ?? Post by Tom K on Oct 23rd, 2003, 8:09pm A quick update. I have a call into the Injex maker to see if they have any data with Imitrex. I know the needle is the way to go, but I was thinking of using this when I get hit in the middle of the night and don't have the wearwithall to deal out a 2mg dose in my arm with a Q-Tip and a small vial. Just dose it up and go, that was my thought. [smiley=twocents.gif] |
