Title: I've stopped a Cluster by Sleep Deprivation.
Post by Chuffy on Aug 30th, 2003, 5:46pm
If anyone is interested I seem to have aborted a cluster by depriving myself of sleep.
I had a couple of heads come on so immediately cut out the booze and found myself reluctant to go to bed in case the demon came to visit.
I was going to bed about 3 or 4 in the morning and getting up no later than 9.30 the following day.
This seemed to screw up any plans my Hypothalamous (is it spelt like that?? ;)) had for blowing my brains out.
It's now just over a week later and I seem to be free of the heads and I have had a drink.
I'll keep you posted if there are any developments.
Cheers
Rob

Nice if it works for ye, Rob.

I myself sleep very little and can do stretches of 4 hours a night for several nights running - and still keep functioning.

Only thing is: the attacks kept coming. So: the cluster is a wiley beast...

I have a hunch that in my case, excessive sleep deprivation CAUSED all of this.  (I used to skip sleep A LOT.)  I think I broke my own hypothalamus.

please be careful

Mine usually come on an hour after falling asleep so I would try to go to bed early, have my dance with the beast then am able to sleep the rest of the night. Still feel drained the next morning though but am able to function at work.

I stayed up for 7 straight days once. I was on Keppra which was making me have terrible nightmares just a few minutes into my sleep. (over and over) I ended up being terrified to sleep ... so I stayed away. I still had headaches but not so many and not as severe since I could treat it at first sign.
