Title: Frova
Post by r_headache on Aug 22nd, 2003, 3:22pm
Has anyone tried Frova yet?  My Nero gave me some sample packs and during this last round of CH I gave one a try...within five minutes I was pain free!  They seem to last around 15 hours for me.  Only one problem, they don't work everytime...they do work about 75% of the time and once you take a Frova you can't take Imitrex for 24 Hrs.  I was just currious if anyone else has tried the Frova.

I was only ha free for 2 hours with Frova before my next ha kicked in.  I found it as effective as imitrix and I was skrewed and couldn't take anymore for a long time while I sat around in pain.  No thanks.

If you type Frova into the Search section above, you'll find a few people who have tried it with VERY mixed results, mostly not good. As you probably know it is another triptan, very similar to Zomig, developed like most of them for Migraine. This is why you can't take another different Triptan such as Imitrex during the same period as there are BP and heart risks. The general concensus is that Zolmitriptan and Frovatriptan are not as effective as Sumitriptan for most people and some Frova takers found it actually caused headaches!

Hope this helps

Wendy the Brit

P.S. Frova is cheaper here than Imigran (the Brit version of Imitrex) so Gp's often try it out.
