Title: Elivil
Post by TedD on Aug 15th, 2003, 12:49pm
My Dr. just put me on Elivil

anyone experienced with this amiltryptiline?

Been cursed by the devil for over 20 years..this cycle is in its 16th month.

It was the first one they tried me on.

after about 5 days, a cycle would slow and stop.
It was effective at that.

It made me very, very lethargic, the quality of life goes into the shitter, weight goes up, and as the neurologist said:
"it makes your wiener not work."

Good luck...and find something else unless you like being a monk.

Thanks for the input.

Already on Verapimil 480 a dy and of course, Imitrex 3 to 4 times daily

Haven't been concerned about "wiener" working when I am in this kind of cycle.

Dr. said next may be Depakote.

Grrrrr

Anyway  thanks again

I do believe that's about the time the ex- left.

I just got a prescription for Depakote and I think I'll skip over that one as well.

I was put on Elivel for my first preventative and it made me feel like not getting up out of bed at all.....Bad quality of life for me....Then another Neuro put me on Verapamil 240 mg....Much better......

BUT....everything seems to work differently for different folks...Take whatever you have to take...Hope you find the right combo for you...
Blessings,
Karen

All of the above for me, too, (except for the "weiner" part -  ;D  )  it didn't help.

I was on Elavil for about 2 years.   Worked like a champ, for a while.  The only side effect that I had was constant thirst.  Hey I would much prefer that than pain!!  Drank a lot of water, which (I think) flushed out some excess pounds at the same time!!  No a bad side effect!

Good luck!
Chuck
