Title: DHE injections Post by clavers on Jun 30th, 2003, 9:27am Am I the only person who used DHE injections rather than imitrex? My neurologist switched me because he thought DHE would be more effective. They come in boxes of 10 ampules and you fill your own insulin needle. the shot hurts like a hornet sting for about 30 seconds. It takes approximately the same time as imitrex to work, maybe a few minutes longer, but seems to be much longer lasting. Generall, I am satisfied with this drug. |

Title: Re: DHE injections Post by Kenzie60 on Jun 30th, 2003, 11:05am I also use DHE injections. I started using them in April and I they work great for me. I was using Imitrex injections up to that point, but they just stopped working. The only relief I get is from DHE injections. Roseanne |

Title: Re: DHE injections Post by NotH20 on Jun 30th, 2003, 1:09pm Clavers, My only experience with DHE was in January 2002 - it actually stopped my last cycle while in the hospital with the IV drip ;D I still have many vials of the medication and plan on using this in addition to the Imitrex injections. Will probably start on the Imitrex with my next cycle since it works well for me and use the DHE as an emergency. Glad you found something that is working for you. Mia |

Title: Re: DHE injections Post by hdbngr on Jul 7th, 2003, 10:51am Yes, DHE has been the best abortives I have found. They often give this at ER's and head pain clinics (they administer) but some Doctors are saving patients the trip, and letting them inject themselves. You can take up to 2mg of the stuff if the first shot doesn't work. Doesn't always work for chronics, but it can often break a cycle if you are episodic. With a DHE injection, O2, and Phenergan, you can save some serious money versus what an ER trip would cost where they do the same thing. Without having to justify your existence to an ER Doc. |
