Started today Depakote 250 mg 3x aday with verapamil 240 2x aday.Can anybody tell me if this comb worked for them.

Cbolony, arent they both preventives? My dr. also gave me rx for depakote for my next cycle. Just wondering why a person would have to take 2 preventives? I'm fairly new to the med scene so just curious.
Please let us know how it works for you and what you think about the depakote.

my experience with depakote was not a good 1,started with 500 mg a day still getting 2 ch per day,then started getting 3 then 4,doc said increace to 1000 mg a day,ch got worse,4 to 5 a day,go to 1500 mg a day. i took 5 trex inj in 1 24 hour peroid had to go to er.got a 10 mg injection of decadron(steroids) did'nt get hit with ch for almost 2 full days and then went on prednisone taper,o2 and relpax.i was told that depakote takes up to 2 weeks to get a good hold but i was not going to wait that long getting hit like i was only after 10 days on depakote,plus side effects..... not everybody gets same results or side effects from these drugs but that is what is so great about this board,we can compair notes.relpax is not the sledgehammer trex is but that and o2 works for me.

Boots I'm not taking verapamil and depakote in the start
of my cycle.My cycle ended march 6 two weeks PF than started getting low kips.Was taking 240 mgs verapamil last cycle got hit pretty hard.After cycle ended in about 9 weeks started varapamil 240 2xaday and neurotin small dose then the new neuro switch to verapamil 240 2xaday and depakote 500 3x aday been on it 1 week and lets see if i can go PF in about month.We are trying this combo to see if we can stop the next cycle.I get 3+ cycles a year and every one is a mother fucker.Oxygen only worked on me on the low kips at the ended of my cycle.The first 6 weeks it's nothing but imitrex injections

I've never tried a combo preventative... yet. Suzy, when the meds fail in solo, we start doing combos ::). One of the more successful combos is verapamil and lithium. Yup, 2 preventatives... sometimes they need help.

I'm on 500mg of extended release depakote/day for my current cluster and it seems to be working quite well. It has taken about a week to take effect; I am tapering off my prednisone during this time, down to 20mg now. BTW, my headache doctor typically recommends combo preventatives. He has told me that depakote + verapamil + tapering prednisone as these take effect is very effective.
