I've been a fan of the site for many years--mostly lurked but posted on the old board every so often. By the way the Imitrex "trick" has been a life saver for me.

A previous post suggested that I should be refrigerating my Imitrex. Like most of us I hoard them--I can get up to 10 shots a month from my PPO--but of course I go six months without needing them (and then go through a bunch during a cluster). Should I be refrigerating them in between uses?

Yes-No-Maybe

The box says store between 36 and 86 deg F.

And to protect from light

A fridge at normal temps should hold this drug well, err on the cold side as heat is the biggist problem.

Back in the good old days when I still had access to them, I kept mine in the veggi tray. I did have a batch go bad in San Diego once. Once is all it takes. Nothing worse than thinking you are going to get some relief, and then getting none. Keep them cool between cycles.

I am also a stockpiler of injections. I always keep them in my bedside cupboard (a dark cool place). The longest I kept them was about 3 years some years ago. They were over 2 years out of date by then. None of the shots have ever failed me.

I doubt they really need to be refrigerated.
