I live in the woods in northeastern PA and it is hard to find a doctor who
understands clusters. I am told that I am not an emergency and can
wait 4 weeks to get in to see a neurologist. They act like they are doing
you a REALLY big favor if they work you in in one week! If only they
knew. Would go to the emergency room, but no one there would know
what to do either. Anyone else suffering in my neck of the woods? Need
a good neurologist. Haven't slept day or night in a long time - 83 years old.

Hi Odie...sorry to hear your having such a bad time...Welcome to the site, Im sure someone here will know of a good neurologist, Im across the pond, think that'd be a bit far for you...wishing you pfdan's and sending you some sleep vibes.

Hi Odie, try the Jefferson Headache Center in Philadelphia, they are worth the trip. The number is 21-955-2243. Tell them you suffer from clusters and you need to be seen immediately. They are wonderful.

Thanks for the tip! I am 3-1/2 hours from Philly, but I have a grandson who lives

Reading your first message it sounds as though the headaches have started recently (several months ago?)

It is unusual for clusters to begin for the first time at your age. However, headache can be a sign of another disorder, for example, low grade glaucoma, or various heart and neurological problems.

Rather than assume you have cluster, please consider getting a good, in depth, general examination. The rule in medicine is to rule out other possibilities before you assume a particular diagnosis.

I'm glad you had a success with Jefferson...but I had the trip from "Hell" there. 1st. visit would not see me due to their fax machine being down and my primary doctor not being able to fax a referral. (Drove 2 hours BTW). Then they hospitalize me for 5 days with a sterioid drip, which did absolutely nothing. Gave me morphine for break-thru pain, then called me an addict when I asked for a second morphine shot, the next day. They never did help me.

But I'm glad they did help at least one fellow Cluster sufferer.
