Title: Re: Maxalt Rizatriptan oral wafers Post by _Binger on May 17th, 2003, 2:13pm Agree completely---The maxalt did nothing for my clusters, but did give me some of the stranger more disturbing halucinations I've ever had. (At least with mushy's by the time the halucinations kick in my headaches gone and I'm in a good mood) Maxalt is just another fucked up, toxic medication the industry is trying to getus to buy. As I have said before---Once the mushy's are in your blood stream, you can not tell the difference between it and serotonin----and yet the medical industry keeps playing with toxic chemicals that trick your brain into producing more serotonin. I guess it makes sense, you can't make any money off mushrooms. Just remember, there is no known toxic dosage of psilocybin. (There has to be one, you can over dose on water---you can be assured that the toxic dosage is way more than you are going to eat---do you have that assurance with maxalt or imitrex? Many praises to all sufferers----We will make it through this, and hopefully help many people to come. |

Title: Re: Maxalt Rizatriptan oral wafers Post by cathy on May 17th, 2003, 6:17pm Steve...hi I think you should take cboloby's advice sorry your having a bad ride right now, but you will find something that helps you have you tried O2...???? Binger .....although I do not necessarily disagree with the use of mshrrms in certain circumstances, I do not think that your advice is the best.....O2 is a much more natural effective way to deal with clusters and has NO known side effects...(that im aware of...) Cathy Welcome both of you. |

Title: Re: Maxalt Rizatriptan oral wafers Post by Margi on May 17th, 2003, 7:48pm welcome Steve - sorry to hear that Maxalt isn't working well for you. Do ANY of the triptans? Imitrex, Zomig, etc? Make sure you let your doctor know that Maxalt isn't your magic bullet. These docs are only as good as the feedback we give them, remember - they are NOT clusterheads - they have NO idea. If you do consider the shroom therapy, please be med free when you try it. It really has helped a few folks here and the side effects are temporary. It may really be worth looking into if you fit the bill, symptom wise. Leave no rock unturned, right? |

Title: Re: Maxalt Rizatriptan oral wafers Post by pinksharkmark on May 21st, 2003, 4:04pm Imitrex pills and injections work great for me. Zomig pills work great for me. Imitrex inhalers barely work sometimes, and the Maxalt wafers do absolutely nothing. It's like sucking on a candy as far as effectiveness is concerned. But that's just me. There's a number of people here who have found the Maxalt wafers work like magic. We are all different. I have found the mushrooms work best of all. Someone here wrote about O2 having no bad side-effects. So sorry, but that is incorrect. Some of the side-effects of prolonged use of 100% oxygen are pretty scary. It is true that there are less side-effects with O2 than many other standard CH meds, but to say it is risk-free is not correct. There was a thread here quite recently detailing potential harm from longterm O2 use. Having said that, I must ask, "So what?" The longterm effects on your life of having to endure the pain of CH is no picnic either. I've put some pretty scary stuff into my body trying to avoid the pain, and if the mushrooms ever stop working for me, you can bet your bottom dollar I will do so again. pinky |

The thread you refer to has links to information that explains the risks as well as *testimony* from a CH sufferer and Respiratory Therapist. http://tinyurl.com/cchz Indeed, LIFE is FATAL: "The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older Shorter of breath and one day closer to death" -Pink Floyd- "Time"- Dark Side of the Moon ..hoping you find your *key*.....Steve(N4H) |

There's a number of people here who have found the Maxalt wafers work like magic. We are all different. Maxalt MLT 10mg's work like magic for me! It's really amazing how our bodies process meds differently & how their effects can vary so much! I trudging through what I hope in the middle (1 month now) of a cycle with the help of 1-3 Maxalts a day combined with O2 (when I'm home). Compared to my last cycle (14 yrs ago!!) when I didn't have this awesome CH site and was using only Cafergot & Fiorinal, I'm so damned grateful for the relief I'm getting from Mx & O2!! Although it may piss off those that don't get relief from the triptans, I feel it's necessary to post my success for the newbie looking for some help from the Beast. |
